I tried contacting TSA but they were busy yesterday when I called and I am trying to contact them today. I am going on this trip to New York and there is this girl that is my age that is going to be there and she wants me to bring some marijuana for her and a couple friends to smoke one or two nights so it would be I was thinking somewhere in the ballpark of two grams, plus some edibles that I am planing to take through the security check point at sea-tac which will be gone by the time I land.

In May I was given a medical marijuana recommendation so in the state of WA I can legally possess 24 ounces of cannabis. Just a couple days ago I came across this article that discussed bringing medical marijuana through the security checkpoints at Sea-Tac.

The 2011 precedent, set with regard to flying with medical marijuana out of Sea-Tac International Airport, is one of brazen acceptance and an almost nonchalant attitude. The departure airport is going to be the main security checkpoint of your travel, so following the regulations of the city you’re flying out of is crucial. But the Indianapolis case shows how landing with cannabis can quickly become an issue at your arrival airport too. So, proceed with caution and care."

What do you guys think? I will probably be able to get some ladies if I get the herbs.

 
haha, well I will be able to hangout with more girls because this chick and her friends are trying to smoke some good dispensary weed. More girls means more possibilities. But no marijuana definitely doesn't mean no ladies. Its New York man.
 
Not really. This girl that I am going to see is my dad's friends daughter and I have met her a few times but we planned a day to get stoned with her friends and explore NYC at night.

I am waiting for a response from TSA but I am sure small amounts will be chill. Most of the time marijuana gets through the security check point because the are not looking for drugs, they are looking for bombs, and dangerous devices.
 
Maybe haha i don't care though she isn't a bitch so its cool, also I was the one that brought up the idea of bringing marijuana. She made the idea that we should smoke with her friends if I bring some. Last time I was with her she swooped lots of beer from her dad and we got super drunk and got into a Knicks Game it was legit. Also I want to try getting weed through security while openly putting nug in those conveyer treys that people put keys in and just show TSA my recommendation, just to see what exactly happens.
 
whats the deal with doctors permission? if you can buy it out of state just buy it there, get high as fuck, pee in the girls butt
 
with doctors permission (green card/mmj card/whatever you call it) you can go get stuff from dispensaries and they usually have pretty good shit for decent prices.

op if you have your card you shouldn't really have a problem flying out of sea tac with some. if it's a bunch put it in your checked bag and you should be good. my friend just flew out a few days ago with a half o in his checked bag and didn't get flagged. definitely don't try to fly in with shit though

Great pot is abundant in nyc.. I mean it's not caliweed and you cant always choose between indica or statvia; however, a typical chick wouldnt know difference.
 
2 weeks ago I flew fromDIA to Austin Texas I brought an ounce of 4 different types of weed I do nt have my med card I just put it in a glass jar and every thing was fine. I have carried on edible but that's it for carry on.
 
haha thats such a clear answer, they say "the passenger who is attempting to transport marijuana – can include arrest, confiscation of the substance, request to dispose of the substance or allowing passenger to proceed. Passengers may be warned that if they are traveling into a state where marijuana remains illegal that they could face further consequences"[/i]



basically they say anything could happen, however I have heard that they consult local police so local laws are what they usually use. Im still waiting for a response from TSA but I may call them again.

last week a friend of mine flew from CA to SLC with 5 oz (shrinkwrapped in a turkey bag) in his carryon bag, no medical card or anything. TSA didn't even bat an eye
 
Yeah I've heard the same. The TSA itself does NOT have the power to make arrests, and I doubt they would bother federal law enforcement with a small amount for personal use. Worst case scenario I see in a state where you are legal, TSA calls local cops, they tell you you are an idiot for trying to bring weed to the airport, and cut you loose. In that amount of time, you have missed your flight.

TSA at Sea-Tac does not have any specific regulations against the transport of passengers' personal medications, however, any items that a TSA Agent feels may be of an illegal substance will be additionally inspected by a law enforcement officer (at Sea-Tac, the law enforcement officer will be a Port of Seattle Police Officer). The officer will return the item to the passenger once he or she has determined that it does not break any state or federal laws.

Having any appropriate medical cards and/or doctor's paperwork will greatly reduce the chances of any medications being confiscated by law enforcement officers.

Please take into consideration the laws and policies of any states, cities, or airports that you may be connecting with from Seattle, as the above information does not pertain to any locations outside of Sea-Tac Airport.

I dunno how you read that, but to me it sounded like "don't bring weed through the security".
 
Keep in mind most airports have customs and boarder patrol agents present at TSA checkpoints and they are Federal officers so they can place you under arrest (even if you are not crossing a boarder)
 
Its a grey area for sure but it sounds like the very most they would do is take my meds, and I doubt the feds will be notified so state law is what will be followed. She also indicated that laws may be different in other states, so she is pointing out that its possible to bring marijuana through security, with paperwork although the state I am traveling to the TSA may not be cool with it.
 
Dude, don't take weed through security, i dont care what your state law is, the feds will butt fuck you. You are a fucking idiot if you do. You can easily find weed in NYC just chill the fuck out.
 
Yeah man I agree. Not hard to get bud in nyc. I haven't since '08 but if anything it has gotten easier. You can go from asking anybody hanging out on a stoop in washingtonheights to asking any hipster in williamsburg. Wherever you find yourself there is a marijuana scene in nyc

Fact of the matter is it can be fucking embarrassing to have to ask strangers for weed. He just wants to fly with his fucking medication.

 
Are you serious? weed laws are state to state, not nationwide. Even though both states might have legal medical, its not a universal system.

TSA and border patrol are feds, they will fuck you hard. Its weed, something that is considered a drug and medical is illegal in the majority of states and only two states have it legalized. If you morons really think he won't get in trouble if he gets caught with weed, then you guys need to go jump off a cliff.

Now, he might not get caught... but its not worth it IMO
 
I have heard so many stories of people bringing dro through security from people. A guy I know got caught with a pound of weed in San Francisco, TSA and police called Sea-tac notifying them that a passenger on a flight to Sea-tac had a pound in his cary on. When the guy got to Sea-tac no one was waiting for him and he just left with the pound.

I am only bringing a few grams which will cost me over twice as much in NYC and the quality wont be the same. My friends dad regularly takes quarters through security packed in a smell proof containers and he says its completely safe and has been doing it for 40 years and says I shouldn't worry.

Also in the email they told me that medical paperwork will help me from getting my meds confiscated. In my question I specifically stated that I was planning on bringing multiple grams of marijuana through their security check point and that I have a doctors recommendation and know the legalities of my meds in the states that I am traveling to. They aren't just talking about regular old meds they are talking about everything from marijuana to Zoloft. The thing is, it's a grey area for Sea-tac since there are conflicting laws with state and federal and it has been reported that they will follow state law with medicinal marijuana. They have been shown to honor state law.

In Colorado TSA allows red card holders (medical marijuana patients) are allowed to travel with cannabis in between medical states. Same thing has been said in sea-tac.

"According to the Transportation Security Administration, if medical marijuana patients' paperwork checks out, they can board a flight with meds in tow as long as they are headed to a medical marijuana state that honors Colorado red cards."

Also "looking for marijuana isn't a priority for TSA agents". I think I will be safe. Its not the boarder I'm crossing here. That is some shit I won't mess with, because there you very well can get fucked over hard.

Most of Manhattan is pretty safe at night. I don't think SirBlungtington is traveling to the South Bronx or Far Rockaways. If he's like 70% of NSers, a rich white kid, then he should be fine wherever he is likely to be staying.

Went through security with 300 mg of thc infused edibles and 2 grams of flower. They took my bag aside because of my camera for some reason and scanned my bag for a second time. After my bag made it through the scanner they handed me my belongings and I went on my way. It was no problem at all. People shouldn't even trip if they have edibles and are going through security in sea-tac.
