Ai Live Trace Help

So I searchbarred it, googled it, I don't know maybe I couldn't figure out exactly how to word the question, so here it is.

When in illustrator I try to do a live trace on a jpg or other bitmap file it's not perfect (as expected) but it comes out horrible on anything with sharp angles or basically anything not curved. Is there any way to preset anchor points that live trace can reference beforehand?

(inb4 people tell me to just use the damn pen tool)

You can toggle the angle threshold and it might help a bit.

But really, just use the damn pen tool.

Thanks I will have to try that! And yeah I hate the pen tool, and therefore avoid it at all costs haha

I did at first but it's worth learning. Honestly, it's one of the most important tools in Illustrator.

Pen tool is going to look the best. it's a pain in the ass to work with at first, but once you figure it all out it's the tool you'll use the most

Sometimes I stitch together two different thresholds to make what I want more quickly.
