Hard drive bricked. All my appleheadz designs, all my EDGE designs, all my schoolwork, everything I've ever done ever is on there. Not backed up. Swallowing sadness. /rant
 
put it in the freezer overnight then put it in an external housing, you might be able to get some data off of it.
 
Thats a bummer, backing up important shit is key. I lost a buncha shit when my laptop harddrive crash, nothing too important, but it was just annoying.
 
they make something called a "trap" (i think thats what its called) that extracts info off of broken hard drives. the IT guy at my old job had one and it worked pretty well. try looking on c-net.com for it.
 
thats why you need to back i up on an external, then back that external up on another external.

shits not cool. cant trust a computer or harddrive. lesson learned for you i guess.
 
one word.... RAID, that shit sucks tho man, i feel for you... i dont have any of my footy backed up right now because im out of disk space.... i would be fucked if my shit crashed
 
worked for me twice. It ran for about an hour each time after the freezer. If you put some rice in with it it will help control the moisture (I didn't do this but it makes since). It ran really slow after but I was able to get all my pictures and important stuff off. Have a game plan of what you really need.
 
I am not really an expert, I just borrowed the shit from the IT guy at work. Basically it just converts the multi-prong hard drive hookup to USB. There is also an external powersource that hooks into there but you can use one off of your computer. This is good if you have the shit, I have no idea on the price of this stuff.

Basically you just dont want to use that hd to boot. So if you have a desktop you can set the broken hard drive up as a slave drive then try to access it that way. I wouldn't recommend ripping apart an external housing.
