Agressive inline skating

if you can, find a skate ramp into a foam pit or lake. perfect for trying corks and shit.

rails are hard as fuck on skates. you get "locked in", and its mad sketchy. honestly rails are easier on skis. half pipes and bowls are fun, but prepare for some brutal backslapping at first. Remember, don't ever brace yourself with your hands. I've sprained both wrists multiple times. sucks.

ive been skating a lot longer then skiing and it think it helps a little but everythings way different on skis. I think its easier when you can LOCK IN on a rail rather then when im on skis and have to keep the rail centered under my ski boots.

And jumping/spinning- to me i figure i should be good at spinning on skis from skating since i can do 3's, 5's even some 7's and mistys on skates but hardly got my 3's on lock on skis. Skis are so much longer/heavier then skates so its not the same at all but maybe its helping me knowing how to skate. And you cant catch edges on skates!

to each their own but i dont get why people think skating is "gay"

esp from skiers. its a hell of a lot more like skiing then skateboarding is.

I really can't talk Shit. I used to play rollerhockey religiously. And before that I had some dope Bauer Sanctitys I used to grind curbs with for years.

fuck frootbooting. That shit mad sketch. At least with a bike or a skateboard you can throw the wheels away when shit isn't right but you are committed when you frootboot.

yup this is why i dont skate in the winter and stop at least a month before skiing. Too easy to get hurt

like skiing.

actually i think high speed bails are sketchier on skateboards, because you have to start running. fast. and if you land with one foot on the board, you can kiss your hamstrings goodbye. thats a pulled groin right there.

skates you can slide, and mush around landings, and even hockey stop if you know what you're doing. but on the other hand you can also slip out and backslap or faceplant. pretty much anything where you're going fast on concrete is deadly.

Hockey stop on skates? I've been skating for six years and I can't "hockey stop" I can cess slide but that doesn't slow you down at all.

If I need to stop after a stair set or something I either just drag one foot, run it out on grass, or run into a wall.

skiing you can kinda slide on your side and if you land sideways on skis you can slide out to your side on snow which is way less grippy than concrete. On a skateboard you can colman slide or drag your tail and then you have the option to run on your feet. The risk of backslap and faceplant is way to high on skates.

the thing about fruit booting is that its not that hard... at first. once you start to get good you can step up to some seriously sketchy stuff, and once your feet leave the ground you are committed on skates, no kicking out or jumping off, either land it or eat shit trying. its fun, and it definitely has some parallels to skiing but be warned, fruitbooters take gnarly falls.

i honestly think cruising mellow transition on a skateboard helps more with rail balance.

really? I've only been skating for one summer...

i guess it depends on the surface, and your wheels.smooth wood or smooth concrete works the best, and hard wheels.

Damn that was like the first thing I tried to learn. I though it was necessary before going fast. like skiing. shit, imagine if beginner skiers didn't know how to scrub speed.

wondering if the guy who said he cant hockey stop is being sarcastic cause thats one of the first things you learn in hockey or rollerblading in general. Thats why i always been able to stop good on skis.

Scrubbing speed on skates is kind of weird on skates, you either have to kind of slalom if you just want to slow down a little coming into a rail or go for the running side step to stop really fast.
