Because comic book movies = $$$$$

People are watching, so why not keep the train rolling and bring in lesser known characters?

To be honest, many of these characters are pretty well-known in the comic book world.

I've got a brother who nerds out over this stuff and has gotten me into it as well.

i don't know why they put trailers out for this, all they really need to do to get people to go see it is put a poster up with "massive iron man fights hulk and scarlett johansson wears a skin tight jumpsuit" written in block letters. looks freakin awesome though.

It's because 20 years ago super hero movies were fucking HORRIBLE outside of the Batman movies... Now with CGI, we can make them look really superhero-y, and it's probably one of the better applications of it.

...on top of that, Robert Downey Jr's been spectacular as Ironman and along with Nolan's Batman movies (though the last one was meh) totally revitalized the Genre...

There are still bad ones though - I mean, who saw the Green Lantern LOL

Probably the same people that watched Green Hornet.

I've watched both of those movies and didn't think they were completely unwatchable. however those comments made me laugh because they were fairly accurate in my case.

Avengers sucks

Honestly, this. They're better solo.

The first two Iron Man movies were great. The 3rd one was okay, but left way too many questions like - wtf volcano people and wtf why didn't you just release your 100 remote control iron men suits on these bitches like 40 mins into the movie...

EDIT: Also, not anywhere close to enough tank missiles..

Really? For me the two best movies in the franchise so far were GotG and Avengers, followed closely by Cap 2 and Iron Man.

Avengers was perfectly paced, had time for all its characters and was hilariously written. They've been on a roll lately with the sub-Avengers projects (other than Thor 2, which was sort of meh) but there's no reason they can't knock Ultron out of the park.

It was well written and all, but I feel it was too... short? for every guy in the movie, at least... and it mostly focused on this 'leadership role' power balance between douchey Captain Amurica and Iron Man. I guess it was sorta an establishing film... but still the whole premise was pretty dumb imo with loki being the bad guy and all. I felt they could do better but instead rode the tom hiddleston wave.

I guess I just wish that movie was like a 3 hr long epoch, instead? Haha And with way more Hulk. Seriously Mark Ruffalo? what a beast casting decision - No pun intended.

Winter Soldier was fucking awesome. Way better than the garbage first Captain movie... supremely directed and well written.

The Thor movies are kinda derpy, but Natalie Portman's one of my "I wish you were my wife"s so Marvel can shut up and take my money in that case.

Also, because not enough Hulk - Why hasn't there been a solo Hulk movie what in the Eff. (those ones from 10 years ago do not count, and Edward Norton is not Hulk enough - also, I want the Hulk to actually fight Hulk Hogan - like 1980's hulk hogan)

Looking forward to it. I feel like it might be hard to beat when it comes to GotG, which has been the greatest marvel movie to date.

Kinda sucks that Antman (Pym) isn't in it, seeing as he created Ultron, and the story from the comics has to do with that.

But, I think it's time to move on, and just accept that they'll never go along with the original story lines.

Looking forward to it, how they portray the Scarlett Witch, Vision, and the Hulk/Hulkbuster fight.

Plus Ultron just destroying everything.

I do agree that CGI has a lot to do with rise of superhero movies. But 90% of them are still wack, that´s what tends to happen when you put all the focus on effects. I don´t even think of Nolands Batman-movies as superhero movies, they are simply good movies (but I agree on the last one). They are not a big nerdfest with specialeffects, they have some substance and good acting.

I'd argue that the acting in the Marvel flicks has been pretty stellar as well.. RDjr as Iron Man is spot on, and I'd say that the Winter Soldier was one of the better acted movies in the series. Of course, Joker in the Dark Knight was unreal, and some next-level shit, but even Batman had it's glaring acting flaws (I mean.. Bane? Could NOT take that character seriously...) and CGI (Heinz Stadium implosion lulz)

Yeah Bane was a pretty weak performance. Come to think of it I might be wrong about the acting in marvel movies. I really try to avoid them so I havn´t seen that many. But I think my biggest gripe with them is that they don´t seem like serious movies most of the time, yet I don´t find them funny either. They go for this "awsome" vibe but at the same time they are loaded with cringeworthy moments.I´m not saying they are bad but simply overrated.

That´s my point of view at least.

this thing looks freaking insane! Kinda disappointed that we're going have to wait til Avengers 3 to see Thanos however the upcoming movies about an Avengers Civil War is going to be sick.

I mean.. they're based on comic books and give off that cheesy vibe a lot of the time. I'd argue that Iron Man 3 was downright horrible (I have so many gripes about the exploding volcano people and Iron Man not having a suit for most of the movie yet actually having like 50 suits he could just call on at a moments notice that all somehow weren't destroyed in the attack on his ballin seaside pad - not to mention cutting the balls off of the Mandarin wtf hell no failure)

..but the acting was decent despite the mediocre storyline. Winter Soldier was actually very well acted and directed.

Might as well bump this thread.

Anyways, for me the movie didn't live up to the hype. I wanted ultron to be this robot who thought what he was doing was right and was just really dark and sinister instead of this comic type character. Also Ultron reveal was rushed, Wheaton said the original was over three hours long which I would love to see as he could go into so much more depth. The entire movie felt rushed and with Marvel not doing back stories anymore they need to put cameos for characters in other movies and it just ruins the flow of the movie. Like Thor in the well which set up Thor Ragnarok.

Wheaton needs to make these movies longer so he can fit all the characters in. The first avengers did it so well and Age of Ultron just didn't do it for me. B+ from me. It was entertaining and I love all super hero movies but it could of been better.

nononononono

the movie already felt like it dragged on for 4 hours. Really was not that great of a movie. Entertaining, sure, but the writers all need to be fired. Plot just didn't flow and wasn't that great. Also it would have been 100x better if they took out 90% of the pointless comedy and made the whole thing darker. They made it suitable for 12 year old's, but it should be dark enough to scare the fuck out of 12 year old's.

Yeah Marvel makes lighter movies and DC makes darker movies. Zak Snyder kills the dark super hero genre. Just look at Watchmen. The MCU is a money making machine and they probably won't change anything as long as people flock to the cinemas.

Yeah I agree the comedy isn't that great, they're trying to appeal to every audience so they're losing on all fronts. (hardcore nerds, mainstream, kids, adults, etc).

I'm always going to see all the MCU movies as they're enjoyable. Sure they're no Dark Knight but they're still fun to watch. I hope they make Thanos really dark and scary, he could be a character that your night mares are made of.

I was super excited but it wasn't as great as I was expecting. Everyone said it was amazing and it was certainly entertaining but not really all that incredible

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't any good either. They had nothing happen other than people fighting each other. If I wanted to see that I would have watched a Stephen Segal movie.
