How can you say age doesnt matter? I am totally lost be this. Those of you who say age shouldn't be brought into the whole equation of being a good skier, are you not impressed when you see a 12 yr old throw a rodeo 7? How can you not be? Explain to me why really young kids throwing big tricks is not impressive, cause i dont see it. I am continually amazed watching kids like petite, booth, kye, etc throw huge tricks, its awsome. To me it is not the same as an 18 yr old throwing those tricks cause they are older, more coordinated, and probably have had more training. Of course age should be important if they are under 14, thats impressive!

when your a kid your more stupid and who do anything cuz you dont think of what will happen. i think its easier as a youngin. but if your like 9 or under then its cool cuz muscles and such. there are tons of arguments for this. but basically, who cares and just ski.

all those kids have grew up at huge mountains with tons of training. i am more amazed by youngins who have had not alot or any training and ski at shitty mountains.

i dont live by a mountain, and i dont get out as much each year as i wish i could. When i go to bigger mountains im always jealous of the little kids rippin the mouguls course and the ones shreddin the pow, and it puts me to shame what they can do in the park. Oh well congrats to them it just never seems to happen to people who dont grow up near a mountain.

hey peeps! as a reply to the first message i think that it really sick when i see a young kid rippin it on the mountain. At my home mountain there are a bunch of little kids rippin up the hills and there is a seven year old who pulls 1s 3s and 5s plus he slides rails! he can do all this shit just as well as they older kids.

 
You are probly refering to me, cuse i have been saying age dosent mean shit. I ski 2 winters ago with kids who where 12 and 14 they could cork and shit and it was my first 1/2 year and i also got corks down. Then this year my first full year of skiing and Bristolrider and Dynarider where 13 and 15 and i got close to cheching up with them. Now even though they are relly young there is a cap on what they will learn each year also like me, you learn shit relly quick and then slow to a crawl. They will only get a little better each year same as the kids who are 9 and doing rodeo 7s. They may be the furure of skiing or they will get bored of it, or fuck them selfs up. What my point is they learned all this shit with in the last year or so, they wont contunie to learn at that pace.

The thing is, even though they are twelve or whatever they still have about the same ammount of experience as most other skiers because the sport is so young. I just got into terrain park last year and I am 17, there are kids who are 14 who have been skiing park since they were 10, giving them three more years. Plus, little kids are more coordinated than lanky 18 year olds, there's no arguing that.

bob we do have brains... all it takes is a small injury that puts u out for two weeks of the season. i kno cuz last year when i was 12 i broke my foot. i still hit rails switch on and i still do 3s 5s and 7s but i know that im not taking as many risks because i have practiced more. i wont go from doing cork 3s on a little jump then do the same on a huge jump without practicing.

What Andy? Pretty much all the mountains in WA kick ass especially compared to some of the shit people are skiing on on the east coast. Didn't you ski at Stevens? That place rules.

i know a 8 year old who can almost 5. it just matters how long you have been skiing not how old you are. like you could be 20 and have been skiing for 2 years and be 20 and been skiing for 16 years. it just matters on how many seasons you have been skiing, and if you have balls or not.

 
well i busted some steez with my home boyz t-dizzle and C.R hommee. we shredded the mountain like it was da atomic bomb dawg. then we whent shredding in the backcoiuntry. tanner was scared and pooped in his pants. so i wacked him in the head with some line skis i found and then i burned them in a pit of doom. then pep dawg came and jumped off a cliff. and unluckily for him he pooped. then c.r tried to save him becasue he is gay but he pooped to. but then sane came and got down saftely. but pooped becasuse of the fire pit. then i jumped too only i did a cork 10000000000 1000 backflip 180 and stomped it.

I'm jealous of all those kids cause in all my time skiing some of those 13 years olds have probably done 5 times as much skiing as I have, and i'm 20. I wish i had the opportunity to rip it up as much as some of those kids when I was younger. I have taught kids as young as 5 that could carve and do moguls, and i've taught 8 year olds that could keep up with me going down some seriously hard mogul runs.

Give them the credit they deserve, dont put them down, encourage them because we are all in this sport for the same reason and they should be able to enjoy it as much as everyone else.

really the only reason we rip on them is because they try to milk every little bit out of being young. for example: in a vid it'll show a crap-ass 5 and they put in 'im only 12' in the desription. are we supposed to be impressed? an ugly 5 is still an ugly 5 no matter what age.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.
 
i'm happy if i get to ski 10 times per year. like someone else has said, its more impressive wen i throw a nice switch 5 than wen some younger kid who lives at the mtn throws one.

yeah, it shouldn't be based on age it should be more based on how long someone has been skiing. a 12 year old could be throwing rodeo 7s but he could also have been skiing for 10 years or something like that. i think it would be more impressive to see someone who has skied for like 2 years throw a rodeo 7. no matter what age they are.

what Irotate360 makes sense, my brother is 12 and he can slide any rail he sees both natural and unattural and its his second season skiing, he skis on the shittiest broken no edge orange 1260's at the shittiest hill with tiny ass jumps yet when we go to tremblant or something he kills it, it makes me proud, im proud of kids that have to work to get where they are and not get shit handed to them like new skis each year and a bunch of seasons passes and new outerwear and shit......

yea screw you misty 7....i progressed the most this year. ive never progressed so much in my whole fuckin life. i went from doing flats in the pipe 3ft out last year to doing them 10 feet out. i went from doin cork 9s over 50fts to doin cork 9s and flats over 90fts

yea i improved a shit load this year too. im 15 and last season the most i could do was a 360 and could barely slide rails and this year im doing cork and bio 7's and im doin 270's onto rails

In Bristolriders and dynariders case they have skied sence they where like 6 or so. They progess at a slow rate compared to if some one just started to learn. I bet if they had just started to 3 years ago they would be at the same place they are now, thats if they had people to push them.

I think what matters is where they ski. If they get to ski at whistler or something like that everyday, I won't be as impressed as someone skiing at a shitty and doing the same tricks. If you have the right facilities, you can progress enormously in a shorter amount of time.

 
Yea, If you rip, you rip, whatever the age. When you are younger you are more flexible and have less fear so its the best time to learn.

Im 27 and better than I ever been but im sure at some point I will start getting worse when my old injuries start slowing me down again. I.E. fractured/compressed vertebrae, broken ankles, blown knees.

I have respect for anybody who throws down whatever the age though.
