Afterbangs on pow?

I've riden my afterbangs on a few semi-powder days and it's really not bad. of course it's not amazing like skiing something fat but it's still a ton of fun.

hahaha you dont ski pow much do you? Skiing backseat isn't skiing. You want to be up on top and you dont need rockers for this you just have to have some speed and a steep run although rockered skis will help

guys Mike Douglas was using the salomon 2012's in pow and THEY WERE CENTERMOUNTEDI have abangs tooI skied them last year and they were sort of ok but My parents said I could demo pow skis if i saved up the money, so i did.I will be demoeing pow skis this season or buying a cheap pair.If i were you i would demo a pair but you don't have to.

you do realize that the 2012's are like 90mm int he waste? most people around the world still consider that to be a fat ski...

holy shit this whole backseat argument is pissing me off.
It sounds like almost noone here has skied powder in varying conditions on a variety of skis.
fuck this is why NS pisses me off so much when ppl chime in about shit they don't know SHIT about. If I wants some tips on my afterbang form then ill ask, if you have ACTUALLY SKIED POWDER (ON REAL MOUNTAINS "FUCK YEA TANNER) before then you can have an opinion. going and doing a slash turn on the side of the park with center-mounted invaders does not...

last year i went out to revelstoke, right after a 40+cm dump on top of a good amount of fresh snow. so we skied the best powder of my life for the next few days, and it was hands down the best skiing of my life, one of the best times of my life in general. i was on line invaders, basically the same dimensions as afterbangs, and it was still unreal. dont sweat it, you dont need powder skis for just a couple days

k i don't mean leaning full backseat, but if you got center mounted skis and you're skiing square, your tips are going to dive, especially if you aren't skiing a very steep run. Can we all agree that in order to keep your tips from sinking you need to lean back, just a little? or am i just thinking too hard about this concept?Or maybe i'm craaaazaaayyy

So let them sink! Skiing the deep is about subtly, smoothness, and balance. You don't have to float on top to enjoy it. Quite the opposite actually.

BTW: why would you dead center mount Lizzies anyway? Your weight should be over your toes, not your midfoot. Even mounting symmetrical skis at dead center makes no sense. Once you lean to engage your boots, your well past the center of the ski, your tails wash out, and you are forced back to maintain balance, leading to shin bang, and poor skiing.

my lizzies are 2 cm back from center. i guess i was referring to the op with afterbangs, which are most likely dead center.

i've been skiing dynastar troublemakers for the past few years in all conditions, and they are 79 underfoot. and that includes a lot of deep PNW pow days. you have to stay a little backseat to keep the tips out, and floating is hard, but it is possible.

that said, i just got some fat skis (ON3P Caylors) and they are so much easier to ski deep in.

I'm disappointed NS :(

Get some centered afterbangs and go bomb some cliffs and make sure to learn foward. Make sure its actual powder 8 inches plus. Im really excited to see this coming from a kid who lives in New Hampshire. I was skiing some chopped up snow from the day before.

so sorry I don't live somewhere up to your standards
and I really hope that people on TGR don't see this thread (more specifically, you're posts and posts like it)

Sorry maybe we should delete this and you should make a thread on how to ski pow on centered park skis to help all of us who cant do it.

it doesn't matter what skis you have, its so simple: don't lean back, ski like you normally would in pow. But it seems like you might be a gape if your still questioning me, so you might be a backseat bandit? ski with pressure on the front of your boots whether there's pow or not

/facepalm

Learn to ski properly.

On the other hand: Skied 15++ inches of pow on my anthems today, because i havent gotten my Bacons yet. It worked to some extent, but they are really not that good.

especially if you have never skied pow it will be especially hard. i reccomend just rentin some fattys while ur there. your have alot more fun/better first expierience with pow.

you can ski it but you're gonna sink way deep into the pow. the reason for pow skis is so the weight is distributed and you can stay on top or at least not sink deep into the pow

exactly this... but last year i got lucky and ended up having to demo a lot because of a ton of snow... So this year i just saved some money and bought a pair.

this thread is a perfect reason why everyone things newschool skiers cant actually ski.

and to williard, landing a cliff in pow is different than skiing in pow. land through your heels, ski through your shins. get out of the park, and actually learn to ski. no one cares that you think you shred, a good lesson would really help you learn to ski powerfully and in control.

I take it you've never skied in deep wet powder on park skis, had the tips dive when skiing normally and faceplant in the snow for no reason. Have some fun with that, then tell me how retarded everyone is for compensating for their centered park skis by keeping their tips up.
Thing is, you can still keep your weight back and have pressure on the front of your boots. Are you complaining about the guys who ride with their weight back or the ones who keep boot pressure in their heels?

Don't mount dead center... there is almost no point... your center of balance, pressure, and weight should be over the BALLS of your feet, not your midfoot. And if you must... buy schitzos so you can ski outside the snowboard park and not be a total gaper douche.

/end thread.

Afterbangs are 88 mm in the waist, which is not much of a difference. To the rocker argument, you don't need Rocker to ski pow.I actually skied them yesterday on some pow that was on the heavy/wet side and my 09/10 166 Afterbangs actually float very well. I did charge and since I am 5' 4'', the longer skis felt a little bit stiffer to me, and I actually did not chatter when i was charging.

totally kill pow browski! i live in wisco and skiied like 5-6 inches of fresh on the sides of groomers the other day.
