i used the search bar and the other threads sucked...

I am thinking of buying it, and i was wondering how worth it, it is, what are some big advantages?

I know its real hard to learn, but i will put in the time..

Don't buy, download it. Bit Torrent works really well. I used AE for like 2 years with premiere as an effects tool. So I would edit a vid. without adding effects in premiere, and then put it into AE to do all the effect work. It is pretty sick, but I had to get a book to learn how to use it. I would recomend getting:

It is really good, and you learn a ton really quickly.

thanx dude, do you have any shit that you did on after effects on your computer you might be able to post?

The files are huge, and if I compress them, the quality goes way down, and the effects look crappy or non existant. I have an edit on my comp. that I made from a ski trip, I compressed it for the internet and it is really hard to pick up on the effects (really, you can just see the text I added in and some other minor stuff, the color corrrection and other stuff can't be seen becuase it is so small).

definately get it, its sick. I think alot of Espn's and Expn's shit is done with After effects just to give you an idea of what its capable of, you would be surprised that alot of shit is probably made with after effects on tv, commercials etc.
