I want to know how to make really creative titles in ae. Vegas just isnt cutting it, from at least what i can do, idk much about vegas titles tho. So i want to make something real creative, ya know creative font etc.. but like floating titles, shifting background. shit like that. anyone?

ae is kind of a bitch to learn in my opinion. At one point I was getting pretty decent with it, but then i stopped using it for about a year, and I'm having trouble picking it back up

I'm not too sure exactly what you want to do, but no matter what it is, you're going to have to get to know the program. I recommend doing a bunch of tutorials, in various areas. Even if they aren't specifically what you want to learn, it'll help you learn how to use everything and once you get a grasp on how they work in that tutorial, you can modify it to fit your own creative needs. It beats reading help files.

A site i used to use a lot for tutorials was creative cow. I checked out a couple other sites as well, but i liked the way he did his tutorials the most.

here's the link:

check it out.

Hey, I decided the same thing about six months ago, i bought AE and started playing around with it, but i found it super complicated, i watched some tutorials at creative cow and began to get the hang a bit better, but then decided to buy some plugins/raw footage fromhttp://www.videocopilot.net/. I then watched the tutorials that came with the programs and that helped a ton. Now i am fairly confident with AE and have began to make some cool intro/effects for my videos.
Also some things that make for a cool intro are having a moving null object, 3d layering of text or images.....and lots more check out video copilot.
Hope that helps.
Cheers Joe

What do mean by creative font with moving background? Like just still text over motion background? Got any examples of sequences you like?

oh jesus christ thank you, I thought I was the only one who thought it was terribly hard to learn

it dosent come easy. honestly i still have to look back at tutorials lots to remember how to do something.

but it is really cool especially when you start playing with motion tracking and nulls and stuff. being able to control depth of field and 3d layers is cool too.

www.videocopilot.net might have a dash in the middle just google video co pilot.

they have lots of neat tutorials for some sick stuff that are really easy to follow. they also have basic training tutorials.

your gonna do alot of video watching haha

yupthats how i am learningI just got the after effects demo, and after weakly attempting some titles, i found videocopilot.net.Now i can make the sickest stuff, its not really that hard, you just have to understand what your doing so you can then use what you know from the tutorial and make your own stuffI will post a vid of my first creation following the Sure Target Tutorial
http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/energetic_titles/

make sure you download the sure target presets and effects by clicking "download project" he shows how to do it in the vid
good luck, its really not that hard

I just made this by following the Energetic Titles tutorial on Videocopilot.net

Ignore the Flashes in the beggining, those shouldnt be there, and the green X is there because i had to use a trial version of cycore fx hd

baller after effects, weird topics:

The Crisis of Credit Visualized from Jonathan Jarvis on Vimeo.

Tangible Actions in Motion from Jonathan Jarvis on Vimeo.

video co pilot
google that there is like an hour long tutorial that covers the basics on AE i would find that and then dapple into some of the other ones when you know what the hell your doing

alright guys, thanks a shit load, i will take a look at these tutorials, and those videos posted were pretty much what i was looking for heres an example tho as well, its just the intro of this

the intro titles ^^^

Those intro titles were done with 3D layers in AE. Watch a couple tutorials on working with 3D layers, and as long as you have some Photoshop knowledge to create the images, you'll have no problem creating a simple title comp like that.

this is my personal title and is pretty sweet. Ive gotten pretty good with ae but still have to look t tutorials, which was how i made this effect
