After Effects Render Problems?

So i've been using after effects CS4 for some time now. Made some sick effects that really come in handy. But now every time I click "make movie" under the composition section. It doesn't render correctly. The speeds are all messed up and my video is played out of order. Any suggestions?

What file format are you exporting to? And your work area bar is definitely covering your entire comp, right? And you're RAM previewed your comp to make sure that it looks right in AE, right?

Yeah it doesn't even look right when I ram preview. and it gives me no option but avi format.

It sounds like your are not rendering correctly, make sure you have your come selected and go to composition>add to render queue. Then it will open your render queue and thats how you need to render it out. Hope that was your issue.

If it doesn't look correct when you RAM preview, its almost certainly a problem with your comp organization and effects, not the rendering process.

The part that it messes up on is literally just standard HD video. No effects added to it period. So that doesn't fix my problem either. Unless you meant something different.
