unfortunately, FCP has been acting up, and since im too lazy to reinstall it, I've decided to download after effects.

Its a good program, but the one thing I dont get is how do you get it to play through without stopping (currently plays about 8/10ths of a second, then loads, then plays a little, etc.)?

If anyone knows how to just play a clip through, that would be a lot of help. I tried rendering it, but that didnt work.

FCP is a NLE (non linear editing program). After Effects is a program for 2d and 3d effects. They are not similar and both do completely different things. Adobes NLE is called Premier.

.

After Effects is for single clips to then pull into Premiere or FCP, don't start stringing clips together on AE, its not meant for that

the previous post are correct but to answer your question, to play things in real-time you've gotta do ram previews. to load ram previews click the play button on the far right that has lines in front of it (kinda looks like this |||>). Once you do this a green bar will start loading above your time line showing you what sections have been loaded into ram. If you click anywhere else in the program the ram preview will stop so you gotta wait if you want to watch the whole thing.
