If anyone has any good insight on how to prep a log for gridning I would really appreciate it.

my friend and i slide some rail road tie i think they are called the wood things and all we had to do was pour water on it and when it frooze it slide pretty good. so my advice would be if ur going to slide wood it better be below freezing or else ur catching an edge

how do u grind a log? like slidding it with ur skis? if thats what ur talking about take off all the bark and smooth it down like a mo fo and put some sort of sealer on it so it dont rot and good luck

well first i grab some good reading material such as a transworld or freeskier then i eneter the bathroom and be sure close the door completely behind me. i then begin undoing my belt and button/zipper. when i have removed my pants and uundergarmets in one smooth fluid motion i sit on the toilet making shure to sit straight up and that is how i, winndeburlo prep a log thank you, good evening and a pleasant towmorrow

obvious step number 1: remove branches.

step number 2: bring hatchet to nubboned areas where branches were removed.

step number 3: use a chizel to further file down the nubboned areas where branches were removed

step 4: remove any bark (use one of those wedgy thingysm ?i'm sure wiripper2 will post a pic for you)

step 5: use wedgy thing on grinding surface,

step 6: use EXTRA coarse sandpaper on entire surface.

step 7: birng a massive candel, rub all over it.

step 8: after using a ton of the candel wax on it, use a rag to smear it in to make sure there's no sticky spots and to keep it all even.

step 9: maybe bring a little piece of plywood that you can all stand on to make sure the log is in place, also to hammer in any imperfections

step 10: wait for snow to fall

step 11: no snow? slay anyway

First find a chain saw, and a hand saw, and a high power wood sander.

Then find a nice log/ tree that you want to prep up, make sure it has no hard bark, because anything with a hard bark will be a waist of your time.

When you have that sucker all chopped down its time to prep, take off all the branchs off with the chain saw ( if your good enough, if now hand saw).

Now most of the time your gonna end up with little stubs, you can get rid of those with the sander, or the saw.

Now you need to go up and down the log/tree that your gonna ride and smooth out the part your gonna ride on.

Now like the gent said before you can use candle wax, or skate wax, or just keep it like that.

You would be quite surprised how quick wet wood slides, i never use wax, but your have to have your edges grinded down or your gonna be in some pain.
