I'm new to park skiing (used to do all mountain so i can ski pretty well ) and i need some advice to hitting better tricks. Right now i can do 180's and some rails. I know... lame.

Thanks

believe it or not, if you listened to the smart style park safety video, how it says to start small than go bigger and bigger actually makes you progress quite quickly. also if you are sort of skeptical on a basic trick once you try it for the first time in your head you will be thinking "Wow, why didnt i try that earlier" sorry about writing the book, hope it helps. by basic trick i meant 3's 5's basic grabs and small to medium rails.

LISTEN TO WU-TANG... helped me so much, it keeps you not focused at all and it makes you perform a lot better. i got so much better after starting to listen to music... hope this helped! 10/10 rating?

Start small. Get really good at sliding rails and doing straight airs before doing tricks. Get really comfortable at the tricks you're doing before progressing, though I think with rail tricks it's good to mix it up so you don't get too used to doing one trick, thus making doing others more difficult. Watch videos, picture what you want to do in your head, then fully commit to it when you do it. And above all, ski with someone better than you, nothing will make you progress more than this.

Also, if you really want to progress, go skiing as often as possible--it's really really fun, and if you're not skiing, you're obviously not getting better.

Its my first year skiing so I'm new to park as well. Yesterday i got my 3's on jumps and 270s off rails down . My advice to you as someone who is also new but progressing pretty quickly is to make a goal list for each day, maybe like 4 tricks or something and then don't stop trying them until your pretty comfortable with doing the trick both ways. Since you can 180 id say next time you go maybe try to get a 360 both ways and for rails try to 270 off an easy box and get comfortable going frontside and backside. I also made goals for different rails though like if you saw a rail you want to hit and that doesnt seem so bad just go for it and dont be afraid. You'll realize how much more you can do than you actually think you can if you just set some step by step goals and actually commit to trying them. Hope this helps!

the best is advice is to envision the tricks you want to learn. When you're not skiing, think about skiing/watch skiing/ and try and think of how you would set certain tricks. Once you can see tricks in your mind, and feel like you can stomp them, take it to snow. good luck!

For me, not to burn steps and not to become a gaper. First when jumping, think of poping, it must be an automatism. Then, ride switch all time on slopes. I mean, when I started maybe 3 or 4 years ago, I struggled but today it pays when you have to learn freestyle all again in switch. See it this way, it is as if a guy who wanted to freestyle wasn't confident enough skiing normally.. SIMPLE UNTHINKABLE ! It's the same in switch !

Then just unlock your tricks by practicing, their's no secret dude.

I was JUST about to post this but you beat me to it.

Really, just go and have fun. Its like... the foundation of everything in skiing. You can train and work out and do drills all you want when you're skiing but if you're not having fun you're not going to like it and not going to get better. And usually when I'm having fun I learn something new.
