Adobe CS2 on intel Mac...

Ok, so, I just got a legit, retail, student version of Adobe Creative Suite 2. Why? school. Why pay? Because Adobe isn't Microsoft, and their shit works.

Now, here's what I'm wondering: Have any of you been running creative suite on intel macs, and is it unusably slow because it has to run through Rosetta? Any tips on how I can get better performance (first person to say "more RAM" gets a kick in the balls for stating the obvious).

Thanks.

RAM is really the only answer.

I have a 2.0ghz MBP and when my 1GB stick of RAM came in (I ordered it through NCIX.com for $100) the performance increase was incredible.

Today I was running CS2, Canon DPP, LimeWire, aMSN, iTunes and FireFox and the computer was still running perfectly smooth.

tru i have the same setup and i run tons of shit at once. why didnt you buy the mac version of creative suite instead of running it thru rosetta?

Wow...sometimes...I wonder.....

Let me explain:

CS2 for Mac isn't compatible with Apple computers that use Intel processors. However, it runs in emulation through Rosetta, a program designed to run old "PowerPC" apps through a software emulation program.

This software emulation works well enough for MS Office (another software suite with no universal binary version) but it's only OK with processor intensive programs like CS2.

There is no Universal Binary version of CS2, there never will be, we have to wait till CS3, which is rumoured to be no more than 6 months away.

well im running CS2 on my macbook pro and it runs perfectly fine mang, i dont know what youre talking about. even if its not UB, it sure as hell works fine, ill hook you up with some screenshots of you want

Yes, it runs. What you don't see is Rosetta...what you do see is the decrease in speed.

Screenshots are kinda like still photos of skiing "Dude, it runs sick!" "Fuck bro, I totally cab 5ed that 60 foot cliff". I can give you screenshots of my mac running CS2. It's not a problem, it RUNS. What it does is run SLOW...which you'd only see on video, kinda like everyone would see that the cab 5 being claimed is actually a sketchy flailed 180 to landing to death to helicoptered out on a backboard, in a coma.

haha that is true. sorry for my ignorance man, ive learned something new. the only reason i doubted you was because ive never had nay problems with it running slow on my system
