Adjusting to new skis

So i just got 173 blends, upgrading from like 156 chronics. Iim 5'6, 140. The first day, my legs were more sore than usual and my ankle was really hurting at the end of the day. My boots are the same and they've been fine before. Is this just cause im not used to the added weight? I havent worked out legs in awhile either haha. but maybe my boot is a little big? add a sock maybe? the length seems good, just the weight is a little hard to adjust.

Because you went to a longer ski you have to do a little more work to get the ski on edge, as well as it being fatter and heavier. The leg soreness is not unusual, but the ankle pain is. This means you probably don't have good fitting boots or you aren't clamped down tight enough in your boot when you're skiing. The boot size issue wouldn't be there if you were skiing the chronics because they were very very short and easy to turn. Normally when I move from my park skis to my heavy pow skis with metal bindings I notice all the play in my boot that is present when I don't have my boots on tight enough. In the end it is all a matter of adjustment, and try messing around with your boots more to try and ease that ankle pain. This isn't a ski problem, but a boot problem.

Ok, my right foot wasnt hurting so i was wondering. Ill probably just add a sock or so and tighten up a bit, should be fine. Thanks
