adjusting bindings

I have an old crap pair of skis with salomon s500 bindings on em that I want to use for some grass/dirt/rock skiing. How do I move the heelpiece forward on the track? Theres a little tab back there but it doesn't seem to move. They are all the way back now

you stick a flathead screwdriver under it and twist it so the tab goes up then hit the heel piece foreward. voila

he's right ^ but usually you don't need to hit it it will just slide foward after you lift the tab up

it just depends on how old they are i.e. older ones may require a little tapping with a mallet or hand and new ones should slide just fine
