how about, instead of NS copying pictures from when you dont upload from your computer it just links to the address you provided? that'll save some space on the servers and allow better quality images?

Inconsistent load times for the pictures could be a pain. Also, seeing as how most new cameras have images with resolutions of over 3 Megapixels there would be a lot of massive pictures floating around the photo section. It would get a bit messy. Since semi-intelligent users can figure out how to post their larger picture in the comments part of the site it's not really a problem.
