ok so i know everyone says its not an addictive drug but i dont exactly agree with them. Currently i feel addicted to weed. Ive been smoking for about 5 years and this recent year ive probably smoked every day atleast once (S.W.E.D). this last month ive been trying to ween myself off weed and try to slow down but ive been noticing that its hard as fuck and most mornings i wake up feeling sad and not able to face the day. Now dont get me wrong, i have good friends and a hot girlfriend, im not some anti social kid who has a miserable life but i feel like weed has become part of my life. I still want to smoke, just less because its very bad for your lifestyle/lungs and i dont smoke cigarettes like some dumbass trying to fit in.

so what do i do? i feel stuck because i need to move forward

and feel free to share your thoughts and advice on marijuana and such. any help is good help so +k

great advice...............try asking for real help, not ns. Not trying to sound like a dick, I dont think to much stuff will help you with this thread.

habits can be formed related to anything if it's done consistently and repeatedly. it's not the same as an addiction. if you feel depressed or sad because youre not smoking weed, your life isnt as good as you think it is. I would encourage you to do some thinking about your relationships, most importantly the relationship you have with yourself.
 
in the nicest way possible, youre being a pussy. sack up and dont say youre sad because youre not smoking, that's stupid. dont be another douche giving potheads a bad name. you'll be fine
 
you're not addicted, you've formed a habit. drug addiction is a chemical process that doesn't occur with weed. but if you habitually smoke weed, it will form a habit, and breaking that habit can kinda suck.
you can easily do it though, i couldn't smoke for all of second semester (drug testing) after smoking very frequently before that. it was a little rough at first but it wasnt so bad after that. that being said, i am now happily back at it.
also, while it's bad that you feel dependent on it, it's not necessarily bad to smoke frequently (a small amount daily or every couple days) in my opinion. doesn't seem wrong to enjoy smoking a bowl at the end of the day to relax as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep your lungs going strong. it's kind of like how some people like a beer or two daily or every few days. you dont have to get drunk or high as shit, just enough that it relaxes you and eases some stress, which can really help you out both physically and mentally.
 
convince yourself it's a mental addiction even if you think it isn't. personally, i don't think weed is addicting but it could be to some people. set goals for yourself to see how long you can go without smoking
 
marijuana is said to not be addictive because the chemical itself is not physically addictive. ie you body itself does not develope a dependence to it. however, weed is very much psychologically addictive, anything can be. i am addicted to chapstick for example. the stronger emotion bond, loving weeds effects, the stronger the psychological addiction. This being said, it is unlikely that you just became addicted from chronic use. that is not a strong enough reason. you most likely are using it, consciously or subconsciously, to mask a problem. Let me ask you something, how diligent are you about getting 8 hours of sleep and doing so everynight consistently?
 
thanks that really helped, but i heard that weed is 20x more likely to give you lung cancer because of the buildup and im just worried if its healthy to keep smoking or should i space it out more?
 
I think that it is not physiologically addictive however humans are creatures of habit so removing something that you associate with being happy, fun, or normal will def make you feel off without it. I have experienced the same thing and but i used it to sleep. So if i cant sleep i def want to smoke. I think it is something you will just have to quit doing for a while until you can work on when you feel it is appropriate and when it is not nessessary. Its like when your parents told you to stop biting your nails or some other less than kosher habit. it is hard for a while and then not doing it is the new habit. some times i feel like that. i smoke about once a week and its not like need to, but it would be better if i did.if you don't want to smoke weed every day, go really heavy on it for like 2 or 3 days.one long weekend i felt like smoking a lot, i was blazed for the first 2 days and was really bored of being high by the end of the 2nd day. i also feel this way with energy drinks (caffiene addiction). i know its not good for me, but if i have money i buy one almost every day just because they taste good.
so basically its all a psycological addiction and you're only smoking because you think it'll be better.if you dont want to smoke, but do anyways just get rid of all your weed and smoking stuff for a while, and just dont think about it. go do sports or something time consuming
 
thanks dude +k, and yeah i use weed to sleep to and now its weird to try to sleep without out, however i still love sleeping after a good burnout

it's really hard to answer that.
there are the weed haters who will tell you that smoking weed gives you cancer for sure. then there are the smokers who tell you weed has no negative health effects. personally, i don't know if i believe that there is a 20x higher chance it would give you cancer (seems a little high), but i do believe that there's no way inhaling smoke often is good for you. whether it causes cancer or not, i have no clue. there is so much conflicting data out there, and i also haven't researched enough to try to pretend like i really know the answer.
spacing it out a little is never a bad idea. if you smoke a bowl or two every two or three days, i think it wouldn't be that bad. daily (or close to daily) consumption of alcohol isn't good for you, but the stress relieving effects may be enough to counter the negative effects, so maybe the same goes for weed. i really don't know if that's true, but that's the theory that i follow
 
you're "addicted" to the feeling, not the drug.

just go out and do something besides getting high. if you have time to get stoned in the morning you have time to go for a short ten minute jog instead.
 
some of the stuff in weed fights cancer, yeah. but i've also heard that weed can be somewhat heavy in tar, which is pretty bad for your lungs.
 
cannabis in some studies have been shown to attack some kinds of cancer. inhaling any kind of burning organic material into your lungs is not good for you.
 
yeah that's what i was saying. stuff in weed = not bad. lighting it on fire and inhaling the smoke = not the best for you.
 
Trust me...I know.

But if you really think you need to cut down a bit than you should be able to. I am going to start a T break today just because I stopped getting as high and only for like 30min max.
 
wut? it seems to me that the more i smoke, the longer it lastsif i hit like 2 bowls im high for 4-5 hours
