since people complain so much about the stupid posts on here, why not allow moderation?
i don't mean post deletion, but have a user run moderation system. several other forums use this. Essentially, everyone's post starts at a certain number, say 3. If people mod it down, it's rank goes down to 2, then 1, etc. Good post can get modded up. When you view a thread, you can choose what level posts to view. So if you set it to 3 and above, stupid posts like "first post" etc that get modded down won't be visible.
The benefit of this system is that no one is really censored. If you set your threashold down to a lower number, you can still see all the posts.
There's more to it, and I could elaborate if people were interested.
