this is not a troll thread.. i just tore my acl and mcl and people have been telling me horror stories about how long it takes to heal. it's kind of freaking me out about the future. will i be able to ski by the start of next season? will i ever be able to ski as hard and try shit like i used to? will i have to always wear a brace even after a few years?

+k for good answers :)

my friend just had this happen and i know a few people who have been through this. My friend is going into surgery on monday and he told me that the doctor said hed be good to go by ski season. you will probably have to wear a brace while skiing but its not that big of a deal

keep your head up. Knee injuries do suck but look at all the pro skiers that are skiing super hard and have came back from ACL/MCL injuries. Some of them have even done it two or three times. Just follow physical therapy and keep working on it and you'll for sure be good to go by next season. Get surgery asap though!

I'm in the same boat as you. Full acl and mcl tear in my right knee. But since I already paid for tuition for spring quarter I probably won't be able to get my surgery to the begining of June. Though from what I heard you can be cleared to ski as soon as six months after your surgery if you go HAM on physical therapy.

I tore my ACL 2 years ago, and I'm going in for surgery it this week. I should be able to ski in 6 months, according to my doctor.

Don't let it freak you out too much. Just do your PT after surgery and you should be good to go by beginning of next season. You will need to wear a brace for a while, but as said above it's really not a big deal. Just gives the knee more support. There's no reason after you're back to 100% you can't keep progressing.

Prolly out for at least a few months, this season is done for ya

You knee will never feel the same again

tore my ACL and meniscus a year ago today. Was a long recovery but not back to almost 100%. Just got to work hard at the rehab and you won't be out for too long.
