ACL and Meniscus Surgery!!! Some questions.

I just had reconsctruction surgery on my left knee after toasting it off a jump on a 3, because i'm a gaper fag. (I had landed it before off a different jumps, and hit much bigger jumps than the one I fucked my knee up on, but shit happens I guess).

Anyways, I just had surgery and this my first night home and I am FUCKED UP. This oxycodone shit is whooping my ass, and my left leg is still numb from the nerve block they did and i'm still drowsy a.f. I have exercises and therapy and shit i'll have to do in about two weeks after a followup, and I have this ice machine thing hooked up to my knee so it doesn't swell too much.

Just wondering if anybody that has had this done before has any tips as to what I could do to maybe help the recovery. Anybody that been here done this got some information i'm all ears. I'm just kind of shot to shit on pain meds right now herpderping in my bed in the knee brace.

Oh and the oxycodone makes my heartbeat like pound and I can feel it in my chest. I don't know what it is. Am I going to die?

My advice, that I wish I had followed last year, is make sure you rest it as long as they recommend if not a week longer. Even if it is feeling okay before recovery time is over, don't assume you can walk a long distance with friends or get drunk (stumbling around really can prolong healing). I'd recommend asking the doctor about the racing heart. With pain meds I find I can feel my heart beating quick, but it's not painful. Anyways a doctor would not give you a dosage you can overdose on, so you're fine, but the pain meds should be lowered if they give you anxiety. Best of luck with the healing man! I recommend watching Blue Mountain State or It's Always Sunny to pass the time.

You start rehab two weeks post op? I started the day after both times.

As far as the pain meds, first time they did nothing for me, second time I was doped out of my mind. They will constipate you, I'm sure you're taking something to deal with that.

Its a long road back.

Do the exercises religiously but dont over do it.

Dont come back till you are 100% healed and strong.

If you rush you could easily re-injure the knee or wreck the other one by over compensating.

Its probably not going to be the greatest of summers but you should be ready to go for next season.

shit, I'll take that oxy off your hands if you don't want it. Send it through UPS in a vitamin bottle and we're good. Back to the ACL, my buddy tore his ACL and MCL playing basketball and went through surgery. If anything listen to your doctors. If they say don't do any physical activity for 2 weeks, don't do any physical activity for 3 weeks. These are very important ligaments and you shouldn't take any chances with stressing them before they are fully healed. Once your doctors and physicians give you the ok, start using resistance bands and go into rehab. If you don't you're gonna have a bad time.

i tore my acl and meniscus and was in a locked brace for 6 weeks so if you're startin rehab in 2 thats a good sign. luckily oxy and tv go together like pagers and jorts so you're prime brother just take it easy, go to your PT and you'll be skiing next season. dont push it

Quick question, did you have your meniscus taken out or repaired? Kinda changes things depending upon which they did.

I had my acl reconstructed and they had to repair and shave off some of the meniscus because it was like fucked up somehow. I don't know really. I'm doped out of my mind trying to find good shit on netflix. I just woke up and holy shit the nerve block wore off and my left leg isn't numb anymore and this thing fucking HURTS. I take 1 oxy every 4 during the day and 2 every 4 to sleep.

Doc said he was going to do rehab day after but he had to do a bit more to my meniscus than he thought so he's playing it safe and giving it two weeks.

How long until I can walk? Will they be having me start to bear weight and walk after 2 weeks once I get to PT? Just curious because last night when I was totally smashed up I asked this fucking dime piece girl out to dinner after I could walk again and she said yes. Stoked for dat.

thanks for the feedback dudes, makes me feel a bit better that people have gone through this stuff and are shredding their next season.

Stay on top of your pain meds, I forgot to take them the night after I took out the pain block and getting up to go to the bathroom was one of the most painful experiences in my life. So gobble that shit up op.
