Accident on Rainier today.

crazy stuff and vibes to family and friends.my buddy got a call from his brothers girlfriend saying that he had called and said that someone had fallen into a crevasse. Then we found out that it was his buddy that had fallen and died. real crazy stuff. It's too bad when someone experienced in the sport is lost.RIP

I think the Nisqually can be especially dangerous because it seems so tame at times. Such a bummer.

yeah i just heard about this... my dad was out leading guide training when this happened.

such a bummer to hear. vibes to those who are affected

No, comments like that are total bullshit. I don't know about you, but I want to die when I'm old and burned out from years of doing what I love, not in my prime.

but suppose you can quit skiing, and face a safe life, with less danger, or you can continue to ski, and know that every day you go out, there is the possibility of death.

Someone said (possibly CR's mom or dad?) something along the lines of "It isn't comforting in the least to know someone died doing what they loved. What is comforting is that they lived doing something they loved." That quote resonates deep in my opinion.

Great, thanks for your opinion, everyone's entitled to their own though. I take more comfort in my brother's death knowing that he brought it upon himslef through his reckless actions. At least he wasn't just blindsided on his commute to work like my oldest brother.

Prayers to the skier's family for sure.

My guess is they were probably enroute to ski the Fuhrer Finger, since that is a pretty popular descent. This is just supposition. They were still really high on the Nisqually.
