Absinthe?

First off, I'll start by saying that Absinthe here is not the shit that will make you trip out. That shit is illegal here, you gotta go to Europe for it.

I have drank Absinthe here and it is still pretty fucked up. I took 2 shots after drinking some beers and went straight brown-out. Its a really fun, energetic drunk, but you feel realllly fucked up off it. Its pretty damn awesome.
 
i heard of people ordering it online and having it shipped into the u.s. has anyone ever heard of this and do you know how much it costs? i was thinkin about getting some
 
i haven't noticed it in every thread but I guess if it was posted in every thread it would be a solid reason however it hasn't been so your argument is not valid.
 
my friends brother brought her back some from italy. she said she felt nothing what so ever, not even tipsy
 
It wont even there. Not absinthe. Real absinthe, even the kind in Europe, is made from wormwood. Wormwood has had studies proving that it is not a hallucinogen while in absinthe, and that to get the amount of chemical released by wormwood to cause a hallucination will cause you to die.

That being said, a full bottle of absinthe between two or three friends at a party is a great night. Also using the sugar cube method with ice water makes the flavor extremely strong, and I fucking hate it.
 
i had it in austria, and i talked to the liq store owner about absinthe, and he gave me a long history about it, and the worm wood, and dirnking it over sugar and everything, and it will NOT make u trip out, it isnt true
 
I've had it in Europe, Argentina, and the States. It doesn't do anything except make you drunk if you have a lot. It's glorified vodka.
 
this man knows whats up. essentially, its really high percentage alcohol, which is distilled in wormwood, which is poisonous to humans, whereas other alcohols are distilled in non-poisonous substances. thats why you have all the stuff about tripping and whatnot.

i have never personally tried it, but most of the crazy stuff just happens because its insanely strong alcohol, so people just get super fucked. also, correct me if im wrong, but it was recently legalized in the us. not sure about that one though...
 
unfortunately, they dont have all the different types of absinth in the U.S, but when i was in germany i had some 88% absinth (the most). We put a drop of it on a sugar cube, lit it on fire and then ate it and we got fuuuuuuuuucked. we had 2 shots each after that too, its sick, you should try the sugar cube thing
 
yea had this past thursday for the first time, a girl told me to get on my knees and poured it into my mouth, pretty sure thats the correct way to drink it. I only had a shots worth along with a few other shots, some beer, so I don't know what it did to me

can absinthe be purchased at your local liquor store and anyone know how price compares to other alcohol?
 
I was in greece and i tried absinthe, i think it was something like 70% .. the bottle claimed it had "wormwood root" in it, but i did not hallucinate. It wasn't that bad tasting though !
 
I had the 77.7 % stuff in Holland, it was a damn good time. I would reccomend it. also, listen to Russel Brand and stroke the furry wall. feels good man
 
Absinthe: The most overrated drink to grace America's soil.

Genius word of mouth marketing from who ever the hell started all those rumors up. I have had it numerous times, gets you drunk...but so does beer, tequila, vodka, etc. If you enjoy enjoy liquorice flavored liquor then this drink will be appealing to you. Tastes slightlyyyyyyyy like Zambooka on some levels.
 
yea thats about right. Its not some magical beverage.

It does get you quite drunk, and its a weird type of drunk. When me and 3 of my roommates had it, we all got drunk in really different ways. 1 was jittery, 1 was dead tired, 1 was going nuts with energy, and then i just kinda was quiet the whole time. Definitely enjoyable somehow for all of us. And I don't recall anything that we did that night, which is very unusual for me. Even on the verge of blacking out, I still remember some details.

but seriously, i've had it plenty of times here in europe, and it only gets you drunk. I had some from a bottle claiming it was 92% once, but i don't know if i should trust that label.
 
When my roommates and I tried it, it took about 15 minutes maybe to kick in, then when it did, we just got drunk all of a sudden....Nothing special, just a quick drunk, although all of us had lots of energy, which isn't always the case when we drink......

Seriously never had it, don't really care. Heard it tastes like shit and may or may not do anything.

If I want to drink, I'll drink something that I like and is easy to come by. If I want to trip, I can eat some acid.

A friend of mine is in Germany for a couple months and is bringing back a bottle or two of it, Im just curious to try it and see how it is, I just wanna get drunk, theres other drugs for "tripping out", alcohol is not one.

but i do agree with you...verrrrry overrated and theres always a few people in the group that will pay $10-15 for a shot of it just because its absinthe
 
was a friend birthday 3 weeks ago and she had a bottle she brought from her trip, took 6-7 shots of it... rest of the night was vry epic

i'm going to go out on a limb and ask if you are asking this because you saw Get Him to the Greek? i've drank absinthe and i only got more drunk... it was on the 4th of july and there were lots of fireworks but nothing seriously out of the ordinary.
