Curious about the name? When the shop opened in 1980, it was one of the first running specific stores east of Toronto in Canada. Over the years, we've done skis and winter apparel in a big way for Halifax and supported the ski scene in many ways over the years (race, freestyle, kids, masters, instructors/coaches, etc.) A1 Boardshop was operating sorta-separately upstairs specializing in skate/snowboard/surf for years.. That ended, and Aerobics First (running, ski, shoe fitting) blended in with A1 upstairs.. Now all our ski & snowboard hardgoods are upstairs and we are A1/Aerobics First... the Maritime's Go To Ski & Snowboard Shop. Known for our high quality service and gear!

No aerobics equipment or unitards on site!

A1 is the most legit shop in the east for sure. I wish we had a shop with the same selection, and staff as knowledgable in Banff.

Yo! Absolutely, there isn't anything nearly as legit as A1 in Banff.

If you are looking for a tech to fix your skis (core shots, waxing, edge repair, etc.) go to Evan at Rude Boys. They are super legit, and Evan really knows his stuff. They do tech skis.

If you're looking for getting stuff mounted, go to Mike in the basement of UNLTD. UNLTD doesn't support skiing but Mike operates separately and has a World Cup background.

If you want to buy skis, order them from A1. There honestly isn't anything as legit in Banff as what you'll find at A1!

Yup, I already go to Mike Lyndsey for anything I cant do myself. Shops here are getting better and better selection, and the guys at Ultimate really know how to fit boots. A1 still beats them all in overall vibe and friendliness.
