Haven't seen a magic lantern thread...but if you don't have it..try it out..

Here are the sites I used.

Step 1. Make sure your up to date on your canon firmware.

1.0.9

http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eosdigital7/firmware.html

step 2.

http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/550d_install

Step 3. Copy the files on the memory card and install the newest build.

This setup is very helpful and allows you to turn off the automatic gain control. I just started using it today and it seems like it will help a ton!

*NOTE PLEASE DO RESEARCH YOURSELF. I AM JUST SUPPLYING THE LINKS. IF YOU MESS YOUR CAMERA UP, IT'S NOT MY FAULT. THAT'S ON YOU HOMEBOY.

I have a mac and it wasn't that difficult to install. Magic lantern is an amazing piece of firmware that truly does 'turn your $800 body into a $2000 body'. however, as said, be careful; read the directions and understand what you are doing. it is very possible to 'brick' your camera...

Magic Lantern is a must have if you have a t2i. Makes your camera super duper pimped

uggggghhhh magic lantern sounds so effing awesome, but I'm super scared about doing it. wtf

Alright I think I'm finally going to man up and install it tonight.
I know that you can brick your camera in the installation process, but have there been any problems with magic lantern after it's been properly installed?

i love it. i just completed my lens setup tonight as well! just going to brag. 17-50mm sigma 2.8,sigma 70-200 2.8, tokina 11-16 and a super tak 50 1.8. thanks to magic lantern amd the tokina, i can finally start saving money lol.

-you can disable auto-gain control and manually adjust it. -zebra-some autofocus shit-more ISO's-adjust color temp-and more but i'm not sure what

Super easy to do. Just make sure you follow the directions..i messed up probably aobut as much as you could (seeing how much you would have to do to brick it) and nothign happened. If it freezes, you need to take the battery out asap to prevent over heating.

I've been contemplating installing ML on my T2i, and I'm just curious if anyone can confirm by installing ML you can void your Canon Warranty?

I haven't searched to hard, but I did come up with this...

"Canon support maintains that any upgrades to the software of the camera not performed by an authorized Canon Repair Facility or installed as directed by Canon, would void the warranty. Thus you should consider it likely that damage occurring to your camera while using Magic Lantern software would not be covered under your Warranty, should Canon challenge the Warranty on that basis. Whether or not their position would hold up legally, has not been tested. "

Magic Lantern looks wayyy way baller!! I want to install it, I just don't want to void my warranty... ahhh the decisions of life!! Did you guys just say screw it and go for it??

You will for sure void your warranty with Magic Bullet. I think it is worth it, but it has it's risk in that sense. The new firmware update is a move in the right direction, but Canon is still slacking. They could make all their cameras so much more powerful if they stepped up to the plate with firmware.

Thanks! I am still on the fence, I'll prob end up doing it because it looks soo nice/useful. I'm sure in the next few years Canon will be dropping the technology, they just gotta save it so they can keep making more $$$ off of us!!

As TGR said, it will indeed void your warranty, but you kind of answered that question yourself. Interesting that it has not been legally tested yet.
As I have posted, I recently ML'ed my T2i and it was very, very easy. I was afraid to do it for so long but I finally just went for it. I'm stoked now, it is such a sick installment. If you just follow this video that Honeybadger and I posted, it makes it very simple and pretty foolproof if you follow it closely

Good luck!

HALP GUIZE

I downloaded magic lantern and now whenever I turn my camera on while it's on video mode, the image freezes and I get a message saying "ERROR 70". if anyone know how to fix this that would be awesome!!
