A thought on Progression and Last Years Big Air.

let me start this off with i know its summer, and so this may sound random. i just watched last years JOSS video for europe and started thinking about if Henrik could win X Games big Air next year. I'm sure all of you saw his kang to shifty (which is mind blowing), and his super stylish 1440 that he does consistantly. then, with turpins triple and the pure stye that went into that even though it wasn't landed, is all this progression going to beat out the Dumont this coming winter? basically, what would it take for the text voting populous to give the win to someone else?
 
well the thing is most of the people voting just vote for wahat they thinks looks cool, so a straight super man front would probably beat a switch ten which is sad... so i think for x-games big air to progress it will take normal judging
 
i dont think henrick will be in x-games and defiantly not turpin they dont bring in enough money compared to dumont tanner jon
 
he's competing at X, he just got signed by Oakley (It is official, they just posted the story on Freeskier) and their rep said that he's competing at Winter X and all the Winter Dew Tour events, not sure if he'll compete in Big Air, but he'll probably be in Slopestyle.
 
i talked to tom and henrik at windells, and tom said look out next season this kid is going to be BIG.
 
The thing is that Dumont is cooler than you guys make him up to be.
At the previous X games he did the double front not at all expecting to win, just cause he loves skiing and competing. When he win he was surprised and knew that he did not deserve it.
I think that if Dumont competes in Big Air again he will have some newer tricks up his sleeve that aren't double front.
 
since they are obsessed with that text to win thing, a double front will win. why? because it is easy to label. people who don't ski recognize that for what it is, while a double cork is difficult to comprehend to your average american watching on tv.
 
Do you have a legit reason to believe he's a douchebag?
Or are you like most kids here on NS and just dislike him cause he's popular and can't double cork
 
i understand that, which is why im posing the question, what else can satisfy the public enough for someone else to win?
 
Probably double flips instead of double corks. If people start doing like double flat 10 or even 12 that can probably top a double front even if it is superman'd out
 
1. truth, he may be cooler than some of NS makes him out to be2. there is no way he only did a double front because he likes skiing, he must have thought that to be his best chance at wining aswell.3. i hvae not yet seen the dumont pull any new tricks since then, let me know when he does.
 
i would agree, i think someone needs to find the equivalent of the superman, thats why i suggested the shifty.
 
naww dead wrong i have respect for simon but he knew he would win the with front flip its a crowd pleaser theres a youtube video i posted a long time ago where he's talking to jon about it
 
not at all. i agree that he is cooler than most people think, but he definitely did the dub front to win. he knew it looks sweet to someone who doesn't understand skiing, and he's right. he wasn't surprised, and he knew that's how to win it. and no, he most likely won't have any new tricks to try.
 
Good point. Alot of the people txting to vote are non skiers or skiers who don't know what they are talking about when they see tricks. If someone did a double cork 1260 everyone would go, "wow! he did a spin around!" not taking in the dificulty or even noticing the person is going off axis twice. But if someone did a backflip they would go, "OH MY GOD! HE WHENT UPSIDE DOWN! AND HE EVEN DID IT BACKWARDS! THAT WAS AMAZING! HE MUST BE THE BEST SKIER IN THE WORLD" just because they are herbs. this text to vote thing is ruining ski progression.
 
well those reasons wouldnt make him a douche bag, now would they, sellout maybe. and yes, one day i broke a pole, so i skied without them. he then decided to make fun of me from the lift or when i was on the lift for the whole afternoon, but wouldnt say anything when i was close, so yes, he's a douche bag, and i also have heard things where he tries to get by cause he thinks hes famous shit, like with girls or to park for free in pay lots and shit.
 
the x games will feature aerials and big air this year. that way, their can actually be a newschool competition and a seperate forum for hucked doubles with no grabs, and proper form.

id rather see a tanner rainville cork 5 grabbed the whole time and shiftied out. when everyone starts to realize this is more difficult than a hucked kangaroo, NS will progress again.
