A sudden change in thoughts on a camera

so recently i've been looking at an HV30 (omg how original i know). I have the money but a camera isn't the only thing i've ever wanted to buy so i'm not putting all my funds into it. ( i had about $650). well about 4-5 weeks ago, an opportunity arose for me to buy one for $500 and i jumped on it.. but low and behold, when i went to ask my dad for my money (big pre-paid check that i thought he hadn't cashed for me yet, cause it hadn't been needed) he told me this. "blake, it's tough times right now with your mom's club and me working so much.." then i said "you took my money didn't you?" then he said "....". so after a while of arguing, it turned out i had no money to buy the camera with and it was sold to someone else... well it might have been a blessing in disguise, because he has agreed to pay half (cause he didn't tell me he took my money) but i have to wait... so now i research. with our money together, i have around $1000 and i want NS opinion on what to get..

mainly action (skiing, BmX, and just other stuff). i'm in a film class so i have time on how to figure the camera out, but i don't have the worlds most prime computer, which is trouble. for and HV30 i'd need a firewire port installed anyway, so it's just another factor.

basically.. suggestions?

bingo, the camera is only part of what you should be getting, expect to drop aorund 150-200 for a decent tripod and you another cuple hundred on a good wide angle for if you wanna do any followcam stuff.

500 for hv

200 for tripod

200 for lense(this could be high or low not sure havent really looked into hv lenses

100 for a good bag

1000, for everything you will need

yup. The jump in quality from a 500 dollar camera to a 1000 dollar camera isn't that much, unless you find a great deal on a used really nice camera. get the hv30 and get a nice wide angle lens, tripod, and bag, plus whatever other shit you want like an extra battery or whatever.

Dude it sounds like you might want to hold off on buying anything big ticket if your fam is that tight on cash. The real world is still in the shitter even though it's gettig better at the moment..... Just saying that if then camera isn't an investment / tool that you'll be using to make $, you might want to think about it in the bigger picture....

owning a health club doesn't come easy in the summertime.. but when winter hits, we do fine.. and that's why i've waited until now

for the canon cameras to even register on a computer you need A MINIMUM of 800 mhz Processor and i didnt have that before. So My dad researched and we got a computer with 4000 mhz and my dad is continuosly tweaking it and its rated one of the top 10 computers on a benchmark program he used.
