A spectacular video and proof that filmmaking is accessible to almost anyone

This is one of my favorite short videos of all time, and I figured I would share it with you all. Its not mine, so credit doesn't go to me, but to the artist Matthew Brown. This was shot entirely on a naked HV40 (no tripod, 35mm adapter or anything else). You can produce almost exactly similar images using the HV20, which can be found used for around $300 now. with that, access to a computer, and talent, one can be able to make a masterpiece to share with the world. some say that this is true with DSLRs now, but those are usually $1000+ more than this camera. anyways getting a little carried away with this point, I really just wanted to share this video.

for any other videos shot by inexpensive cameras that really strike you, please post them in this thread.

On a somewhat related note I'm super excited about this consumer revolution, seems that incredible resources are available to so many people now. You can throw down $300 and have a music studio on your computer that would have cost you tens of thousands a few decades ago. Really exciting to see that the average person can produce an amazing piece of artwork in the time after their 9-5 job, or write a beautiful piece of music.

Yes, but its a double-edged sword. Just look at all the awful mashups or "omg shallow DOF" videos plaguing the internet...

This massive increase in accessibility is great, but keep in mind it's only technological. Those who are creative and artful will benefit greatly, and those who aren't gain nothing more than a thin veil.

Id say the other side of the sword more lies in the monetary devaluation of works of art. Why hire a photog when your moms friend has a dslr? Why hire a recording studio when your cousin makes his own dubstep?

Precisely, and this is the result of bad artists gaining more technological potential. I've heard many stories of professional companies with Cineflex and RED outfits losing business to wedding photographers who just learned bought a 5D and are learning how to shoot video...
