A job at a ski magazine

right, i'd like opinions NS!
I have a dilemma.
Currently i work at a rock music magazine in the uk, it's an awesome job, i've not paid for a CD for three years, i've probably seen over 300 concerts for free too and i've met Metallica. However, im looking for a change.
I've seen an advert for my role at a ski magazine, while it's a big magazine, it looks pretty bland an unexciting (the opposite of what im doing now) and as far as im aware it doesn't cover much freeskiing at all. However i would get good travel and free ski trips and probably manage to blag some nice gear too. That's beside the point, though. It will also take me an hour longer to get to work every day.
My question to you is... shall i sit tight and wait for another awesome job to come along before i move on safe in the knowledge that i'll still be happy until then. Or shall i suck it up and work a job that isn't exactly what i want do but open up doors to do more stuff in the ski industry in a few years time?
Decisions, decisions....
Oh this is all assuming i can get the job, but i know my ski shit and i can do this job with one hand so i'd be fairly confident.

i say sit tight for a little while. continue to gain credibility and experience. do stuff on the side for things you'd wanna put on a resume' (volunteer work, independent projects, on the side journalism) and wait for something that really scratches an itch

well talk to the ski mag people. ask them "I really like skiing, i think your mag could be way more edgy and fun. I wanna go on ski trips and write reports, i wanna test gear and write reports, i wanna meet people and see things. Right now, im getting all this with the music mag, but with music and not skiing. Can you match that? i love skiing but i can't go from an exciting job to boring. oh, and you need to pay for my gas."

dude, your job right now sounds dope as fuck... i'd have a hard time leaving that, but i can relate to getting restless and wanting to move on.

but going from such a dope job to something WAY less exciting... that'll be rough.

thanks guys, worth mentioning im a graphic designer and their magazine sucks in the way it looks. would love to say i could make it way better but i don't wanna come across like a dick. no stated deadline on applications so im gonna give it some more thought.

the hour longer drive trafic or no tracif? my commute is like 45+ miles both ways when theres trafic (almost every day) it takes maybe 1.25-1.5 hours and it blows, but lately when theres no trafic its about 45-55 mins which isnt bad at all

While both jobs seem sick I would try and go with whatever one seems more up our alley. If you feel like your more into skiing than go with the ski mag. If your more into the music industry go with the rock mag. I kinda don't see how working at a ski mag would be a boring and uninteresting job? If anything I think I would go for the ski mag job and try to get them to expand their horizons. If your a good graphic designer try and let them allow you to spicde up the mag a little bit and make it a bit more visually appealing. After you gain their trust with making it look cooler, try and get them to expand more into freeskiing by telling them how its the future of the sport and all that. Plus who can beat free ski trips? :-p

BTW, this actually works. I mean maybe not saying it like that, but something like that

My brother is kinda being fought over by a couple ad agencies. hes an ad copywriter.

Right now hes "interning" (hes 25...) at an agency in LA. They pay him $100 a week right now, which is pathetic, and offered to hire him as a "junior freelancer" and pay him $3000 for two more months of work. after that he can potentially get a real job with a real salary form them

but this place in new work wants to hire him as a freelancer, and pay him $5000 for two months. neither jobs pay well, but the $5000 is better of course, but he wants to stay in LA cuz he loves it there. So he spoke to one of the partners and said "man, i love it here, i wanna work here, but im 25 and im still living off my parents. i need to make some sort of living and what not"

the guy completely respected what he was saying, and agreed, and now hes going to finally make some better money and work where he wants
