A Hypothetical Dream Trip

Say that you just won 10,000 off of a lotto ticket at your usual gas station stop on the way to your local hill. Naturally, being the snow fiend that you are, the initial thought is to blow it all on an epic ski trip. Where are you goin, how long are you gone for, who are you going with, what are you bringing, etc...

Personally, I'm packin up the old truck and headed to British Colombia to ski Whistler, with a pit stop at Momma Hood in April. Hypothetically, sleeping in the truck and camping with a few homies should save massive lodging costs, allowing for as many days destroying my shins on jumps too big for me as possible.

Throw down your dream trip, weather it be modest, completely blown out of proportion, or just plain stupid.

If I won ten grand, I'd blow it on a heli trip. I can save enough for a frugal trip to Japan or Chamonix on my own but I'll never have the funds to go heliskiing.

I’d start in my home mountain, Les Arcs for a month with day trips up to Tignes/Val d’Isere and Courchevel to hang with friends from previous winters. Then start heading south to alp d’huez, les 2 alpes and chamrousse over a couple of days before heading back up north towards La Clusaz for a day or two then visiting friends in Chamonix for a bit before returning back to Les Arcs for the remainder of winter, with trips to Verbier, Grandvalira and St Anton to visit friends/ski. Maybe move to Mayrhofen over the summer with Hintertux glacier just up the road and loads of hiking/biking on the doorstep.

Yo that sounds like a well thought out plan my man that would be so dope

I'd go big or go home. A week at mica would be something to remember. But......hear me out guys.....

1.Quit my job(I can always find another banker position somewhere)

2.Sell my car(6 grand)

3.Buy old van or 4runner with 4wd (5 grand)

4.Convert to awesome ski van with living area in back with couches and such (500 bucks max)

5.Epic Pass + Ikon pass(1700)

6.Extreme Cold camping gear such as sleeping bag, stove, thermos, really go crazy on the gear for those cold nights (800)

7.Live my dream winter travelling around the country with nothing but my skis, and 8000 dollars for gas, beer, and food

Goddamn, it all seems so plausible, At the rate I'm saving, I could literally do this next year if I wanted to, it's a shame I want to build a life with a family, I'd be so happy doing that and just travelling around visiting you guys at your various home resorts in the U.S. from December through June

Took me way too long to write/plan. Considered continuing through to summer but thought better of it.

If I have to blow it all in one trip Antarctica. Would be cool to blow it over a whole season and ski AK, Morocco, Japan, maybe Iran. Idk.

But one trip Antarctica. I would imagine you can find better snow other places, but just seems like the trip in general would be worth it.

See I think that’s the scariest part of the whole situation is it’s actually semi realistic and even more tempting

A TC type thing. Except with one huge RV.

I’d tour the major east resorts first. Like November-December-Januaryish. Boulder, Ktown, carinthia, Sunday river, maybe more. Then head out and hit the good parks in the Midwest. Troll, Wild Mtn, Tyrol Basin, Duluth,... there’s probably a lot more sick parks that I’m missing. I would do that like January-Februaryish. Then I’d head out towards the Rockies for end of February and beginning of March. Probably all those resorts around break, copper, etc. I’d then head to Utah for Beginning of March. Snowbird, Solitude, Alta, PC, and finish it off with the closing day at Brighton In like mid April. Then I’d head to the resorts in Cali. Bear, mammoth, North Star, all that good stuff. Once May would hit, I’d definitely head up towards bachelor and hood for the remainder of the summer. Switch between hood and Bach, cross off one on my bucket list: skiing on my birthday (May 29). Once bachy closed I’d just ski hood all spring and summer long until Timberline wasn’t open anymore.

10k definitely wouldn’t cover all this but I’d definitely try to make it work lol.
