A Guide to Oakley Lenses

i need an all day lense would u go with vr50 pink iridium or high persimmon? I cant get regular pink iridium because its for the oakley splice

Wrong, they are in fact two different lenses. The vr50 has the same color properties as the regular pink iridium, it's just darker. I'll get real pictures posted in this thread tomorrow afertnoon.

as far as i know, there is only 1? Oakley's website does not have 2 pink iridium options for either the splice or crowbar.

wow, interesting. I learned something new today. But the question I have is do they still make both of them? Oakleys site only has 1 of them

I was really really hoping for a photochromic goggle lens. Of course, making the airbrake over adding a photochromic lens makes a lot more money.

Yeah I guess they did stop making them this year. Kind of strange that they don't give you the option any more considering the newer vr50 is significantly darker than the regular pink iridium and not as useful for lower light conditions.

Actually, how are Persimmon at night? I wanna get O-frames in matte white with dark grey for daytime and I was hoping to save a bit of cash by getting a lens that comes with the matte white O-frames for night.

Clear or yellow would be the most suitable for night, although the persimmon is a little more versatile on overcast days when the sun peeks through the clouds

Has anyone had any experience with Gold Iridium? I'm getting a pair of crowbars with them in a trade hopefully, and I'm just wondering how they perform in pretty much every condition: sunny, overcast, low light, flat light, night skiing etc..

what is the best lense for night time in midwest resorts? i have dark grey polorized and they make it pretty hard to see through at night, im thinking about getting H.I. Yellow lenses, thoughts?

Definitely the HI Yellow or Ruby Clear, great at night and will work on cloudy/partly sunny days too.

as for the Gold Iridium, they're pretty dark and definitely won't work well with night skiing. I used that lens with my A Frames for years skiing all conditions and I had a really hard time at night haha

Thanks man, and I wasn't going to use them for night skiing anyway, I have a pair of crowbars already with pink iridium and they work great.

Instead of starting my own new thread... which lenses should I get?

basically want a 1 lens quiver for bluebird to fog, but not all the way to night, so worst it gets is heavy snow/ fog. The only 1 lens solution suggest so far was the vr50 pink iridium? or should i go for 2 lenses? but the majority of ppl on the hill and all my life so far i've just used one, so i should keep doing that. I suppose heavier is sliightly better than lighter, because my old goggles i would use in dark light anyways. it'll just be awesome to see more, while still being fine bluebirds. Any second opinion on the reflectivity of the vr50 in sunlight? can see eyes? no?

cheers

vr50 Pink is pretty dark (41% VLT), probably the best choice for an all around lens. HI Persimmon is also a great all around lens. Might be a tad bit too light for those really sunny days, but it will definitely perform better under lower light conditions than the vr50 pink.
