A different ARV 84/86 post

Hi guys,

You all shaking your head already after seeing the title ?

Let me introduce myself.

I'm Doedelzak and after searching all of this forum I decided to ask my own questions.

I am 163cm / 5'4" tall (or short) and weigh around 55kg / 120 lbs

I've been skieing since I was 3 years old up until the age of around 18 ( Wich is almost 10 years ago ).

I recently got back into skieing and oh boy the hype train went CHOO CHOO the moment I went down again for the first time. I wanted to jump every single bump I saw. And after 30 minutes back on the skis I was jumping the smaller size jumps in the park on these shitty carving rentals.

Note: I have ridden alot of ski's but never ridden any twintip that is somewhat center mounted.

My wife on the other hand has never been on ski's before. She is now learning. This means I will spent most of my time on indoor skipistes and probably always in the park side of it. This also means we won't be going to the steepest mountains any time soon.

I went to the local dealer and explained my situation and bought a pair of new ski boots at the same time ( Yes I didn't lie when I said I am on the hype train ).

When I told him I was looking at the ARV 86 because damn that purple topsheet makes my pants feel a little tighter he suggested to maybe look for something with a smaller underfoot. He suggested the ARV 84 and probably in size 157.

If I would choose purely on what I like the most visually i'd go arv86 BUT now I'm a bit scared the 163 will feel too bulky for me. Considering the ski would be as tall as I am and i'm just a beginner in the park.

Any short people here with some advice ?

Other brand/model suggestions are always welcome. Völkl revolts maybe ?

*Not a native english speaker, please grammar nazi the shit out of me

The arv 84 is a ski designed for children and the construction reflects that. The 163cm arv 86 is a far better bet.

Arv 86 !

I'm the same height but a little heavier than you. I tried out both of those skis on a demo day in the spring. I liked both skis but could definitely feel the difference between the two. I preferred the 86.

Its common for skis to be as tall or even taller than you. You'll get used to them as you spend more time on them.As an adult eager to get back into skiing you would likely destroy the 84s quickly.

Thanks for the quick reply's

You guys gave me the answer I was secretly hoping for.

Ordered a pair of arv86 163 right away.

They look super dope imo

you made the right choice. those look great and you're gonna love them

they're the exact perfect length for you. if they feel a little long on you at first, don't worry that'll go away very quickly and then you'll be thankful you got them. enjoy dog
