A couple smaller Southern California Bands worth a listen

The perks of my job enables me to meet all sorts of people, see all sorts of shows, meet bands, and hear all sorts of talent. This past weekend I had the opportunity to mix for a friends band as well as another band playing with them.

My friends band just released their EP called Prisons recorded at Matt Sorum's studio in LA. its up on this site for sale:http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/antonjon and will be on iTunes tomorrow. give it a listen and if you have a spare 6 bucks, support some local music.

give their facebook page a like too: https://www.facebook.com/antonjonband

the other band is called Sounds of Satellites. Their music is stemmed from anger, desperation and all the shit life has thrown at them. Their album is on Spotify. and here's their facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/SoundsofSatellites

neither of these bands music alone does them justice. the shows they put on are full of energy, entertainment, and emotion. They both, in my opinion, are on track to go somewhere.

check them out and let me know what you think.

oh and if you do decided to purchase the album.. the site has you log in via facebook which does nothing, other than give the band an idea of who has purchased their album. cdbaby does nothing else.

I'll bite on a post-your-friends'-music kind of thread.

These guys (err, girls and guy) went to high school with my brother. Garage sound for sure, but I think it's rad. The track Kingsway might be my favourite on this EP. http://cavegirlvancouver.bandcamp.com/

Unfortunately Sam Tudor's new album isn't online yet, but check out this page:http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/Sam-Tudor which has stuff from his previous release. The new stuff is a lot better imo, so I might bump this thread in like a month if he ever gets that shit online. FB page:https://www.facebook.com/samtudor

And then I don't know these guys as well, but another Vancouver band that I kind of knew back in the day:http://www.jpnsgrls.com/

Gave the second band a listen. Sound isn't bad but just wasn't digging the singers voice. Not that it was whiny, something about it was just obnoxious in my opinion.

the cave girls kind of sound like the silversun pikups. not bad. i'm interested in sam tudor.. a good singer song writer is always good music to have.

yea, i will admit, the singers voice is a bit whiny, but then again i've seen them live, and he really pulls it off in a live setting..

did you check out the first band?

Can dig the first band a little more.

^ I saw FIDLAR open for the Pixies a couple months ago. They had a few great songs and put on a good show.
