A Basin

I'll be going to A Basin for the first time. Anybody have any useful information about the place? Also the first time I've been out west, so of course I'll be looking for a good time.

A-Basin is sick. I went for the first time yesterday. It gets tracked out super quick though. The Montezuma Bowl is pretty fun, but I really liked the Pallavicini Lift, the trees in there are so nice. The Treeline Park is pretty small, but good if your starting out. They have a bunch of good rails though. The East Wall is really good if you get there before it's super tracked up. Talk to the ski patrol when you get there, they know what's good on any given day.

Here's a trail map

once breck closes, i'm gonna be skiing a bay every weekend since they'll be the only mountain open on my pass. i hope their park is fun.........
anyone know?

A bay is alright as I was there today. Two jumps and one stepdown which are kinda fun. I mean it's no Breck, but if you need your jump on, you can. Jib line starts off with a DFD to flat box that's sorta step upish, or to a C -box. If you like, you can skip both of those and stay skier's right and either hit a double barrel down or down log to stall or stop sign jib. Let's see, if you stay with the small step up box, you can go to a A frame, field goal post, or a up log. Off to the right there is a flat double barrel to a steap flat down to a rainbow. Oh yeah, the up box stall is there as well.
Not too shabby. It'll get fun..eventually.

I don't think so. I've been there for a few years now and it's basically green and while features that are the Basin's. I WISH they took some of keystone's features and set 'em up.

Yeah it's a good time. I kinda wish they had more features to cluter up the area a bit more, but it's super fun. My only .02 is I hope the crew reshapes the tranny to the sideways stall box by the stop sign. It's getting a lil haggard and on more than one occasion have thought I was gonna catch under the coping.
all in all tho, it's a blast !

I heard they have a 60in base and that almost everything is open, enjoy! I havnt been this early but I went in june last year a bunch and there are some fun rail setups

omg i think i saw him there today!!!

but seriously, pretty decent set up right now. i'm stoked they have a DFD hahah

the park is sick! (for abasin standards) so much fun. im stoked to ski there until june. hopefully the crew stays on top of shit though and adds and changes things.

Good condition. Their park crew has really been on top of shit. About 2 or 3 jumps should be open and a bunch of mega fun rails/boxes/jibs. Just go. You'll have a blast

good to know. I'll be hittin up the basin one last time this season this weekend. Anyone know of some campgrounds that are OPEN near by?

park is sick.

from the top you can go:

skier's left to hit a nice jump, to the up-down box, to the field goal jib, to the weird up box.

or

skier's right to the dfd box, to the flat box, or the c box, or the down rail. after the downrail there is a fun little triple barrel rail, and another downrail

the park is shrinking in features, but still fun. Hit the jump, do a backflip, then cut hard right, tap the end of the wide flat box, and then hit 2 flat bars. Thats the route most people take.

oh yeah the pond skim rules
