A Basin Opening This Saturday, 10/23/10

2010 SNOWMAKING AT ARAPAHOE BASINStay up to date with A-Basin snowmaking.10/19/10We have been making snow for the past 5 days. Last night we ran 17 guns from 5am through to 10am. we are making snow every chance weather permits and we will open as soon as we can. Last night was the coolest it's been since we've started making snow. An opening date has not been set as of yet.
 
I hate when they open on the weekend. hopefully this isn't true. last year it was on a wednesday and it wasn't even that crowded.
 
I highly doubt this site has any info that we don't seeing as both mountains keep the date secret until last minute because of the competition to open first. Though I would be surprised if they don't open on saturday or sooner, seeing as they always have more snow than it appears as they often keep it in piles to prevent melting then push it down just before opening.

I went for open day the last couple of years and it's definitely one of the most fun times I have had skiing. If you can make it out I would highly recommend it.
 
It is times like this where I wish I lived in Colorado. Meh oh well, at least I am not on the east coast. Someday I will ski this infamous state and see if it lives up to the hype.
 
Whenever they open somebody needs to get first chair and have an NS/first! sign. Although I bet the first chair is reserved for somebody.
