A-Basin opening day

Anyone been to a basin on opening day? Is there a couple rails set up usually? Is it worth going even if I’m missing the snow, or is it gonna be super crowded and shitty

They usually have one or two rails set up in a little hike section off the side of the run. It will be super crowded as always so don't go expecting to get a lot of runs in. The lift line gets super long as the day goes on so getting there early AF will be your best bet. Other than that it is a really good time and there are always good vibes from everyone all day, I will be "sick" at work on Friday.

Of course it is. It will be full of the fucking gapers you expect to run up to share the white road of death with a million other gapes. The same people that will ski 3 times the rest of the year and complain when the resort closes down in April with a 300 inch base, because people like them got their turns in October 13th.

I’ve been there pretty early in November and lines were long as shit but they atleast had a few rails to hike, just don’t know if they will have the rail setup opening day

Haha very true, just itching to get on the snow

Anyone know if they will remain open mid week? I could go Monday Tuesday or Wed. I'd have to rent or borrow skis but I did bring my boots on this road trip. And its oct and 2017 so outerwear doesn't matter. Holler if you're interested in getting day there or just a few loveland or wherever pass laps

I went for opening day (or weekend) since 2013 and this is the first year I am not going - I do not feel like I am missing out at all. While it's a fun time and there are great vibes, you can just wait until the middle of the week after and ride the exact same run without 300 people and hour+ lift lines.

Just saw on Al's blog that they're setting up some kind of park, Usually a couple of rails over on the right side of High Noon. Have fun on the WROD. Like mentioned above, wait till Monday.

There definitely was a park, it was a super fun little hike park for sure, but does anyone know how long it takes for it to be worth it to even go? Like how much will it die down this weekend? I'm not tryna wait 30+min for one run.

Opening day was nutty as expected but it definitely tapered off today. I may have waited like 5 minutes max in the singles line. I showed up at 1 hoping that the snow would be softer and there wouldn't be as many people and both proved to be true.

I was looking for some opening day edits and haven't seen anything. I'm sure the park hike film crew is around here somewhere right?
