A Basin, Loveland where to ride

rolling up to a basin, loveland for spring break and want to get into some of the more technical zones, but am unfamiliar with both spots. I'm down to ski whatever, but any advice on fun zones is helpful.

Both mountains offer a lot of open bowl skiing and have a good local vibe.

For Loveland the best stuff is up on the ridge, which is off Chair 9 with some additional hiking or a cat ride. The lower stuff (at or below tree line) is more gentle sloping with the exception of Chairs 4 and 1 (Chet's), which are mostly mogul runs. The whole mountain is a blast on a good power day.

A-basin has more steep/technical terrain, East Wall and Steep Gullies are most notable, but most of that terrain requires a hike in or out. The Pallavicini, Beavers, and Zuma lifts all offer some fun stuff.

Also, be prepared for wind. Shit gets real on high-wind days.

Go to both, I just did this week. If it's windy, just head into the trees.

Yesterday, I saw a kid take the portal to the send zone at the bottom of chair 8 at Loveland. If you go there you'll see what I mean. Kid came flying into the area where the lift is and couldn't slow down in time and slid right off the edge of the cliff. Thought he was done for but he was somehow ok.

at abasin, do a counterclockwise tour starting with the pali.

if you are serious extreme, check out the gullies (requires hiking out.)

lap up again and drop the backside into the beavers zone, usually moguled out tree zone.

once you are done in the beavers, drop into the montezuma bowl. (sick cornice drops/cliffs if tracked out, drop over the elephant...)

bro, you are only half way at this point...

hike up to the top of the north pole, and take a couple laps on the east wall, before settling into the face of the resort for some park laps and beach partying.

cheers
