7springs 14/15

They're making a dirt halfpipe in the Spot so all they have to do in the winter is cover it with snow. This is going to let them focus on other things, ie focusing on getting North Park open much earlier and putting the jump line back.

I saw this when I went up for my pass, interesting idea. Is there any precedent for this, something other resorts have done?

I've never heard of anyone else doing it. But it does make a lot of sense because it takes them forever to build it, so it'll save a ton of time if it actually works out.

Holimont does this. Their halfpipe is oververt but it helps with the jumps.

So stoked! I usually ski at Hidden Valley which is like 5 minutes away but I am hoping to head over to Springs more this year!

Anybody here know when Seven Springs is opening?

Still too early to tell. Depends on the weather, but the weekend after Thanksgiving is probably about the earliest it could be.

A friend who works at Hidden Valley says they're supposed to start blowing tomorrow. The 10 day looks pretty good for snowmaking. So we'll see...

Skiing over Thanksgiving would be clutch, If you hear any updates definitely post them

What the FUCK!!!!

Looked at the web cams and its bare as hell. Reports of a water main break too.

When they went to crank everything up last night they blew the main water feed, supposedly worked on it all day. Hidden Valley has been blowing though.

Yea Hidden Valley web cams looks like there is a TON of snow. Not sure because it isn't light out but it really looks like it.

Update: the Emcee at the PIST rail jam (James hammy Coffman) has stated that next weekend could very well be opening weekend.

That would be awesome, especially since I'll be home. On a side note, how was the rail jam? I wasn't able to go this year.

Always a great time. Word on the street is that Saturday could be opening day as long as the weather system that blows through tomorrow doesn't drop too much rain. Hope for snow and we'll be skiing next weekend.

I'll be so pumped if I can ski over thanksgiving break, this is the first I've heard of it opening next weekend possibly, might have to come home from school earlier than I planned.

HYPE

Shit was crazy. They allowed skiers to compete this year but the skier to border ratio was 2:7

The setup was sketchy as hell, but everyone was still throwing down.

Yea I was bummed I couldnt go since skiers were allowed to compete, I'd always take non/skier friends and couldn't really tell them how much better skiing is with only snowboarders competing ;)

Chances are they won't open until the weekend after thanksgiving.

That being said, Snowshoe in WV is opening the day before Thanksgiving. Me and a bud are driving down there to get some early season shredding in.

I'm fine with that, I wont be home for Thanksgiving until next Tuesday and have access to a condo up at Springs for Thanksgiving weekend. Im too hyped for schoolwork now

I definitely think they'll be open on Friday or Saturday. Today was insane for snowmaking, and the rest of this week will be too. On Sunday, it's going to rain and it'll be warm for a lot of next week, so I think they'll at least be open for the weekend.

It's supposed to cool down next Wednesday as well.

Just announced they're opening the 28th, damn that sucks.

Eh, don't get too jumpy. I would rather them put in two solid week of snowmaking and have a killer opening day.

The weather is going to be terrible for snowmaking, barely below 28 at all.

Any rumors about an opening wkend park set-up? A couple of jibs in the beard is a safe guess

Im hoping for something similar to last years setup. Arctic blast was made into a sick park, and it even had a sizable jump. Santas also had some jibs

Gonna be there tomorrow morning/ afternoon for a bit with my friend! We're down for a few hot laps if anyone is there!

How have the parks been since the warmer weather? I could drive down Wednesday (5 hours) and was wondering how the parks are. Really hoping the spot is still open mainly
