7D Repair Costs went up- Unintended consequence of Coronvirus

So the shutter finally went on my 7D and I took it in for an estimate to get it replaced a few months ago. They quoted $250 but I figured I would just wait for my tax return. I took it back yesterday to a local camera shop and the guy said he will have to call Canon but he gave a rough estimate at $325. Thats a lot of money to fix a camera I bought used for $500. I am going to check another shop later but I predict a bunch of prices for electronics etc to start to go up.

Damn thats a bummer. My roomate actually has a 7D he might be trying to sell. Think he has it listed for $250 if you're interested and trying to stick with a 7D?

I struggle to see this as a result of the virus, I’d guess its just cause you got misquoted or underquoted months ago.

Canon wanted $500 to replace the snapped off LCD screen from my $200 t3i years ago

Thank you for the heads up. It just a hobby shooting photography so I think I am going to wait until things settle down. I have a T3 Rebel that works fine for day to day use with the Kids etc. Used 7Ds are definitely coming down but I dont want to get into a high shutter count model and run into a replacement situation again soon.

That is just what the guy told me which Im taking with a grain of salt. The only other shop in town says they need to send it to Boulder to diagnose and its a $35 fee so I am kind of at the whim of whatever the first shop quotes.

Thats pretty funny about the $500 LCD screen. Those T3i bodies are good cameras though for what they are.
