Closed again... this sucks Breck got 11 inches and I'm stuck down here. Even 285 and 9 are closed too. There's no way to go skiing!
 
yea man, FUCK, it has been closed since 11 19 lastnight. they are opening EB in about an hour then WB will fallow shortly. So there is still time for half day skiing. CDOT is really dropping the ball this year.
 
dude, look at the total snow fall already. They close it to keep it safe, i'm sure when your laying in the hospital paralyzed because your car gets wiped out by a avalanche or a huge semi truck due to white out conditions or ice, you'll be thanking them. I mean shit dude, 200-250 inches around summit already? I think that was the total of last year. That would mean more consistent snow, which mean the roads will be snowpacked and icy more often. Which also and tragically means more accidents and more injuries. Shit dude, if they close it due to conditions and or ice or huge crashes I thank CDOT for putting myself in more danger than necessary.
 
I can see where you are coming from. Thing is that I was on I-70 lastnight. I drive from Lookout Mountain to Frisco five days a week, then to days a week I drive from Lookout Mountain to Loveland. It was closed do high winds. I can understand that, it just seems that every storm we get, they close the highway. I think the main reason they close it is cause people still want to go 60 or 70 MPH is a bad snow storm. Those people run off the road and wreck. THERE STUPID PEOPLE. Thing is about this closure, I have seen ten times worse and the hwy was still open. I was on it at 11 lastnight when it was closed.
 
I skied today. Maybe it snowed 12 inches, but the winds blew it all over the place. I think they closed I-70 due to hazardous wind conditions, not so much the snow. When I came up last night (Thursday Night), you couldn't see more than 20 feet in front and cars were wrecked everywhere. I even passed a truck that was on fire for some reason.
 
I tried to get up there today, I thought, there's no way it's fucking closed, bluebird skys all the way to where it was closed and as far up as you could see. Gayest shit ever.
