7 Springs Urban Style Park?

Could of put this in regionals but I figured I would get more input here at this time of year. I heard from a friend 7 Springs was given money this year to build an all urban style/ concrete type park. I don't know the validity of that, but I thought I would see if anyone has heard anything about this? thanks

Don't know anything about it but an all urban park would be pretty sick. I would imagine it keeps some of the gapers away.

there would be some crazy liability on that park. concrete hurts, but it could also keep gapers away... sort of a double edged sword

You would have to make sure everything was on point when making it cause there is really no way to change concrete after you pour it.

The rundown, 2 weeks to finish the actual features, dirtwork starts next, and then finally they pour concrete right before October ends..

Also the urban park will not be part of the alley, instead it will be located in the foggy bowl.. my guess is after winter they want to use it for bike park, and possibly expand into a full on skate park.. it's been in the works for a while now.

In 2 years time money will be put into dirt work to improve the alley and expand our parks again.

Just for the record i know a lot of rumors have been going around about a new lift? well, no... guess were going to have the same crappy old alpine lift , which has not been fixed..

hah maybe for you derek

7 springs needs more rollers and boxes for me
maybe even a baby park or 2- im getting old and it hurts when I fall

they have been talking about an urban style park for years, but I have also heard that this is supposed to be the year it happens.

hope its done when I come back home to visit. Smart move on the crew to be able to use to all year around(snow & bike).I am sure that will help it get done. See yinz then!

Although 7 Springs riders love spreading rumors, this one seems like it is actually going to happen. thanks for the input pence.

On another note, all I can say is, some kind of big jump (60+) BEFORE the pipe is built (I'm sure many others agree that they would like to see a large jump before february) and please let it be poppy- not digging the flat lip of #3 last year... no hate at all, just suggestions.

sorry if im missing something here, but if they built a park out of concrete how would they keep it on top of the snow?

Yea I heard that they are trying to bring a dew tour stop to sunday river so they are seriously expanding their entire park program and hiring some new jump builders.

I think i'm missing something, because I don't really see what Sunday River has anything to do with 7 Springs expanding their parks...

Alright i'm not guessing anymore you fuck. Their average snowfall is 105 inches, which is nothing and something you could easily plan concrete features around.

dude chill out. You can control how much snow you make extremely easily, thus proving his point. Don't get butt hurt cause that guy gets natural snow.

And before you hate on my I am originally from PA and have skied Springs a good amount and think an urban park would be unnecessarily difficult to keep snow off of and have. seems strange.

That sounds painful, lapping urban features, it would only be a matter or time before disaster lol.

he has a point though, if they're pouring concrete features I'm interested to see how they're going to keep the snow low enough to use them. the base of snow in the small bowl that they are using is usually upwards of 6 feet, but if you keep it low enough to hit built in features all it would take is one warm day for bare spots to show up. i'm really interested in seeing how they pull this off...

now that I think about it, I have no idea how the hell this is supposed to work. Like, concrete lips? concrete landings? a bunch of concrete trannies skatepark style? The only way I see this as a good idea is just to have concrete ledges, butter boxes, etc. Pence/someone on park crew- elaborate please...

I dislike you so much. Hes right PA doesnt get much snow. With snow guns you can choose where you blow snow, so obviously dont blow onto the cement features if they dont need snow. I can see this working in the middle of winter, but when spring roles around keeping the right amount of snow there might be difficult.

Did you forget a little thing called temperature?

I remember riding the 5 ft wide snow paths in Jan like two/three years ago. I love my springs, but dont act like the location allows them to blow snow throughout the whole season every single year....

Okay, Pennsylvania doesn't get 105 inches for an average snowfall. The average there is approximately 50 inches. Even if too much snow was an issue for anywhere, they could make the concrete higher?

you don't know us... and we get far more than 50 inches... maybe the state as a whole, but that includes a lot of places that don't get shit, we're talking about the mountains where they actually do average over 100 inches a year, hell two years ago we got 225.

get learned before you open your mouth...

and where the hell did my icon go?

go to 7springs.com the homepage says this year they will have the worlds first ever urban park. and they are making the superpipe 22 feet this year instead of 18 feet. gonna be a crazy year
