would +6 be a good mounting spot for the 179 05/06 PE for all mtn? i think thats where im going to mount them but i jus want to see your opinion.

Skiing in NC aint so bad

I hate it when snowboarders think they are so cool because they can 50 50 a rail

My 179 Seth Pistols are mounted +6, but that is for park.

If you are going to be using those skis all-mountain I would mount +3 or so, due to the fact that they are pretty short. If you think you'll be doing more park that all mountain maybe go a few more cm foward.

yeah i heard +5 is best for all mountain, i rode some pe's at +7.5 and they did pretty good all mountain but i did almost all park, id say get them at +5

he lives in north carolina. +6 is fine.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

Hellllll no! I have my 05/06's at +5 and it's still far back. Go +7.5, it isnt even remotely close to true center on K2's anyway. +7.5 will look heaps steezyer andis alot better suited for switch riding the occasional trip to the park than the +5... Mounting at 5 will simply convert the PE into an all mountain whore, when it is still a good ski for the park as well

bwhahaha...come on man, don't ya know?

it Dookz dude. That kid knows everything....;)

anyway, +5 or +6 will be good all mountain and in the park.

+7.5 isn't that far from true center, only 4.5cm. So, I would say that core center is "remotely" close to true center. The 1.5-2.5 cm difference between core center and +5 or +6 will make a difference all mountain and in powder, so I would mount there.

First of all he asked about all-mountain skiing NOT park only skiing. If he wants it for all mountain I would say around +4 or +5. Anything more than that is great in park, but not the best when it comes to skiing in the Southeast. There is plenty of scratchy snow and if he is too far foward he will not have very much tip to keep an edge when he is trying to get to the park.

i forgot to mention that im going to mount them with look p12 fr wide. i ski about 60%park and 40%groms pow win ther is some and some moguls every now and then. hope this helps alittle more.

I Would still stick with +5 if you want the ski to be fun while you are skiing to get to the park. +6 and up is great if you are concentrating more on like 80% park and do not really care about "skiing". The ski is fun wherever you mount it, but (my opinion) I liked the ski more for everything when it was mounted around +5. Think of how much of a pain skiing bumps would be with a ski mounted at +7 and having that much tail to catch behind you

aight i think ill go with +5 cuz park isnt the best thing about skiing

I used to have that same oppinion, untill all these guys at the ski shops convinced me otherwise. They claimed that in fact more tail is "better" in moguls because it will do all the work for you apparantly. I'm not sure if i agree with that, but it sure does seem easyer when the tails just smack into the side of the mogul and send you in the other direction with ease.

Also, who do I think I am? No one in particular, i never realised how defensive people on this forum get when someone questions their flat comments. such as one line posts saying "mount at +5". I, on the other hand, explained that my k2s are at +5, and I also gave my honest oppinion on this mounting point. Whether or not you choose to mount further forward, which was also advised by most the people i speak to at my mountain, is entirely your choice.

Last I checked, this was a forum. Go look up the word forum.

you began your post with "Hell NO!!!".....

so, people were defenesive as you were expressing your opinion by claiming that their opinions were wrong, no just slightly off, but to the extent of Hell No. stop bitching.

since we obviously didn't write enough for you I'll elaborate, no that it needs to be done as there are about 50 threads on this exact topic, but whatever.

having skied Seth Pistols @ +0 and now +6, PE @ +3 and +5 and Fujative @ +7.5 I would say go for +5 or so for all mountain. The +5 PE were great all mountain. MUCH MUCH better than the Fujative mounted core center.

Skiing the fujative core center I couldn't go as fast as I wanted to comfortably and when I turned I felt like the ski tip was gonna hit me in the face or something it was so close. +7.5 was not good for all mountain. It was ok in bumps, amazing in the park, but he asked for all mountain.

the +3 and +5 mounted PE were much more able at skiing all mountain. +5 was great for skiing the park and going switch. Not as good as the fujatives, but the extra tips makes a noticable difference in the abilitly of those skis to float, bust thru crud, etc, all stuff that an all-mountain ski should do well.

So, as most have said here, +7.5 is really too much for an all mountain ski. You will lose some of the skis all mountain capabilities. They will be better in the park, but the difference between +5 or +6 and +7.5 will not be huge in the park. The extra few cm of ski to float, etc, will make a difference in pow, etc.

plus, if you really are unhappy you can always remount.

I would go +5.
