5dmkiii March 2nd

After reading more about it, it has some good features but still leaves you with a "Meh, i'll keep what I have" feeling about it.

Holy clean high ISO shots. Ergonomically it looks a lot better than the mark2 IMO. My only complaint is why an sd slot and not 2x CF slots?

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm just realizing now that the 1dX has all the same features, I wonder why it didn't create this much of a buzz in the video community! I'd kill to be able to afford it, the dual CF card slots, 12fps, slightly less obtrusive AA filter, dual digic 5 processors, and 1d build,

And if all the moire and aliasing is fixed, why is it bad being full frame? not the same as an s35 sensor?

Optically, I prefer s35 because I like shooting long and as long as the Tokina 11-16 exists, full frame poses no wide angle advantages that I can see. The only advantage I see to full frame is a cleaner image, but the D7000 has a cleaner image than the 5Dmkii, and it's a crop sensor, so it's really the best of both worlds to me.

The only reason people us the 5d over something else is to say they use a FF camera, its fucking stupid. The 5d can produce the same video as a t2i. The ONLY advantage of FF is on the wide end, but the widest lens you can use without the image being a circle in a rectangle is the 10mm? maybe even just the 15mm... just kinda stupid cause those lenses are expensive as fuck anyways. Like landis said, as long as the 11-16 exists, you'll never need a wider lens that that (on a crop). I used to think FF was cool too but after awhile, i'm realizing its just another gear whore spec to brag to your friends about. *DISCLAIMER IM TALKING ABOUT VIDEO THOMAS

haha he doesn't like the bokeh of canon lenses.

135L anyone?

(5d + 135L)

This lens is amazing, I was lucky enough to use one for 5 minutes and its so sharp at all f stops. Its just too tight on a 1.6x for portraits.

I've seen great things from that lens, but that particular image = BARF

Not to mention the issue of people stewing in camera/lens quality rather than actually taking good photos...

That is the coolest sport ever.

video was kinda cool, felt like today's cameras woulda gotten the same output though

I agree, and I'm not that surprised. The main upgrade in the camera is its processing power (af, speed), not its sensor.

Exactly. Mark 3 is just a bunch of extra bells and whistles. Hopefully we will see some of those bells and whistles in cheaper models they release in the 70d and t4i. A headphone jack would be reasonably nice; all the other features I can still get from magic lantern.
