Ok so I am in the build a jib cult, but its pretty dead and I have a few questions about a summer setup... First, how does galvanized steel work? And if it works good, how do you attach it to the wood base? And last, what type of metal that is available for not too much money slides the closest to a real metal rail
 
yeah but my grandfather owns a hardware store, so I wouldn't have to pay for it, so im just wondering what kind of metal is the best, without having to weld, such as having sheets of it
 
yeah, I'm looking into metal pipes too, but which one would be the best for the money? I already have 2 pvc rails and they are all shredded up
 
i was thinking the same thing. as i clicked on it i was like, why am i clicking on this, what is the allure of a question mark followed by peroids that sparks my interest? possibly the mystery of the thread? that thread could be about anything, you would never know! its alot to think about...

also, to op's question, i have no idea. i use pvc, it works well for me.
 
yes, but my grandpa does, and I really don't want to go asking for 1000000 dollar pipes that don't even work, so anyone else? And Im well aware of the title being bad
 
On the other hand, once you've figured out how to weld, you can create some great features that are tougher to do with PVC. I have a hydraulic tube bender and I am going to weld up a quadruple barrel rainbow rail this summer. Way easier and ultimately lighter to go with steel than PVC and wood. It will also last longer.

Safety note: Do not attempt to weld galvanized steel! Resulting fumes will kill you. Your granddad will confirm that.
