4Frnt EHP 190 (104 waist) or Volkl Gotama 177 or Volkl Katana 177.

For pure pow ski (that can be rided on resort pists as well for getting to the pow)

Been riding for some years the Gotamas.

Im 180m tall and 80 kilos.

nobody? it doesnt matter if u dont know them all, just give your thoughts on the ones you know. I tend to like more stiffer skis ....

One ski is out of place there. Are you looking for something longer like the EHP, or wee little 176 Gotamas?

yea I know but theyre intended to be my just for deep powder ski so being 104 waist I thought in getting a bit larger one.

Neither the Katanas or Gotamas are by any means "stiff"..more of a medium flex. If you want stiff check the LP XXL, Moment M1 Rocker, Head Supermojo103, etc. If you want to stay along the lines of Gotama/Katana then check out the Moment Ruby-most stable soft ski you will ever ride. They hand flex soft, but are as stable as anything Ive been on. They rule.

I dont know anything about the EHP.

i havent ridden those skis but i love my moment rubys for pow and everything, why not get a rocked ski?

and id say katana if you like a stiffer ski plus their flat and with a 111 waist you cant go wrong unless your doing alot of switch stuff

next years are. this years are zero camber in the 193 length. ehp's are stiffer than the other two, the 193 is stiffer than the 190, next years look insane. i wish we actually had some soft snow here to demo them

The VCT is more similar to the Gotama, the EHP is more similar to the Katana, figure out which type of ski you want first

Well I mean do you want more of a playful backcountry ski that you will land more switch on etc? Or do you want more of a straightline everything don't ski powder switch as much ski? I personally would go with the 4frnt VCT or the Gotama, I used to ski on the VCT it was bomber enough to straightline crud and fun enough to ski powder switch with.

I've been using Gotamas for deep pow days but I want to know if a 5 mm waist increase like in the Katana would change a lot ...

at your size at weight of those 3 skis, I'd definitely go 190 EHP. If you can get 190 Gotamas or Katanas (maybe even 183s) then there is more of a decision to make. But right now, those Volkl 176s are WAY too short. Remember Volkl skis short, so even those 183s measure out to about 180ish.

If you already have Gotamas why would you want more similar skis, keep your Gotamas and get a powder specific ski, like the ARG. If not, have you thought about the Rossignol SteezE?

i concur, think reverse camber, something playful? args would be super fun, the new jj's, maybe some chopsticks? theres a bunch of options now

The gotamas are of my brother.

I thought Gotamas were almost pure powder but I was thinking on some 110mm waist. Katanas are not pure powder??

Gotamas make a sweet everyday ski that's also really good in the powder. Katanas are more powder-specific, and you wouldn't want to ride them all the time. If you're looking for something a bit more versatile that will still be awesome to ride when the snow isn't great, I'd be looking at the 190 Gotama or EHP.

Powder Specific = Reverse Camber and or Reverse Sidecut = EG: Armada ARG, K2 Pontoon, K2 Hellbent, Salomon Rocker, next years JJ, next years Chopstick, next years Kuro. These skis don't do well on anything but crud and powder, don't take them on groomers (with a few exceptions). Don't take these when it hasn't snowed recently

Big Mountain Powder Oriented = Katana, EHP, Sumo, ANT, Steeze etc. These skis are awesome for huge big mountain lines and powder but can still handle groomed snow etc. when the powder is gone.

All Mountain Powder Oriented = Gotama, VCT, Seth, current Jp vs. Julian, Brigade. These skis are awesome anywhere on the mountain but are wider so they still rip in powder like they are supposed to.

Thanks for that explanation. For me gotamas are too wide and have a too big radius for everyday riding. Is there any Volkl or 4frnt for Big Mountain Powder Oriented with Reverse Camber and or Reverse Sidecut??

Next Years 4Frnt EHP will have a reverse camber nose, Next Years Volkl Chopstick and Next Years Volkl Kuro.

first off, try tgr, people here will recommend hellbents no matter what you say

Goats- good all mountain ski, slay pow, crud, groomers, everything, just a nice fat ski to charge and get real bomber days out of

Katana- basically a really fat mantra, so its got the burl but much more underfoot, it's a very good deep powder ski and does well busting crud also, but i wouldn't say groomers are its strong point, but if you've skied the mantra, it's very similar just super fat

EHP- good all around ski once again, but i found it doesn't really charge too well, it's got some burl but it's more geared towards short turns and to me it's an ideal touring ski, light but with enough meat on it to handle a lot

i think for charging the shit out of big mountain lines, look into the prophet 130, bandit b-squad, legend pro XXL, basically a super fat stiff as hell ski. for playing around in nice soft pow, maybe try something soft and fun like a bacon, but i find if you buy a ski for just that, you don't use it that much. as for all around, i'd recommend the goats or the prophet 100, i absolutely love my 100's, basically you name it except park and these skis rip the hell out of it, so there's my $0.02, but try tgr for a lot of feedback , i mean if you have someone here saying the scratch steeze is a big mountain bomber ski, you're getting misinformed
