9+3 is obviously first, so 48÷2(12)
now, sub in x=12
so 48÷2(x)
what would you do in that case?
quite obviously that is equivalent to 48÷2x or 48/2x
now, make it equal to 288 and it's:
48/2x=288
48=288(2x)
sub back in
48=288(24)
obviously wrong.
so, letting it equal 2:
48/2x=2
48=2(2x)
48=4x
sub back in
48=48
therefore it is absolutely 2
