41 years since the first moon landing

just figured I'd point it out, being that it is a pretty big thing in history. July 20th 1969 apollo 11 landed on the moon.

kinda pisses me off that these days we struggle to launch people into earth orbit considering what we used to be capable of.

It's cool, I'm going to in exactly 5 minutes, at 10:25 Eastern, so if you wanna do it then too, its like a tandem jerk off. I'm using pornhub, one of the videos that is currently being watched, which ever seems to have the less dick. Care to join?

because it cost some absurd amount just to do 1 flight. Unimaginable amounts of money went into the program, and that's why it got canceled. Going to the moon became routine/boring to the public, and nasa did a terrible PR job of showing what the money was going towards. The people weren't behind it anymore, and to nixon, it represented JFK, so he did away with it.

well the first time we didn't really care about the moon, we were just trying to be NUMBER ONE JEA AMURIKA

all i do is pornhub, i just watched cute tattooed emo striptease just to check out her tatoos now on to the good stuff

My grandparents lived in Russia during Communism, and my parents lived there shortly at the collapse of it.

Man, I got some crazy stories my parents and grandparents have told me about it, in fact, I did a report in college about living in Russia during that time, crazy, crazy shit

If that's all true, then I can accept that.

It wasn't until recently that I got hooked on space exploration and knowing just how small we are. If anyone else is interested in space, you should seriously check out "THE PLANETS" mini-series on the Science Channel ... your mind will be blown.

if you are proposing that it was fake you are an idiot. not going back doesn't mean it was fake, they could in fact fake it many more times so not going back has nothing to do with it.

what the fuck are these kids talking about funding and public support. This is the real reason why.

First time I heard it, outside the Bellagio in Vegas, fell in love with it as soon as I heard it

I'll go in on the trip if we can allow some beautiful Russian women to come with us, say 15 years from now?

I think we really didn't land on the moon and was really in a studio because in the pictures theres no stars but in real life and not in the studio there is stars up in space.

meeting gene kranz, and getting to sit in the flight directors chair at the original apollo MCC are two of the greatest things I have ever done

The lunar landing has to be one of the most important dates in the history of the planet. Along with the deep field photography from hubble, there have been no greater achievements in the human condition. Even from the replies in this thread makes me realize how little people actually care about anything other than whats on our planet. Think about how little our lives and our solar system means in the grand scheme of the universe and the idea to just ignore anything outside of our solar system is such a waste. The deep field photographs are the most important photos in the history of our world, it is amazing how humbling those pictures are... you are looking back in time 13 billion years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAVjF_7ensg

True, but it will prevent the need to jerk off when we land on the moon, and we could be the first people to ever fuck on the moon?

try finding stars above a city. they're still there, but extremely hard to see. That's what happens on the moon. It reflects the sunlight, which makes it almost impossible to see the stars due to the brightness

It was a powerpoint, but I could re write it to work on here, I love that kind of history stuff. Also, my grandmother e-mailed me tons of information for my project, as in 28 pages of her first hand account.

I'll work on it tomorrow, then post it up.

damn that sounds really interesting. I had a math prof last semester who lived in the soviet union for a long time. Probably one of the most interesting classes i've ever taken just because of his personal experiences and stories.
