Since more and more people are venturing into the backcountry to build booters, sled and hike the steeps avalanche awareness has moved mainstream.

For $40 you get an all day lift ticket to Kirkwood on Jan. 21, an introduction to the Sierra Avalanche Center's professional avalanche forecasters, a chance to demo and win the newest backcountry safety gear from Black Diamond, BCA and Ortovox and some good ol' fashion all around avalanche awareness.

to clear it up

its a recco system

this is a reflector that is built in, NOT a beacon/transsever. This only works with the recco gun that is not for sale

so if u think ur safe ur not

the recco is a great thing that works with finding people

but a beacon is the only way
 
alot of jackets have recievers, so anyne with a beacon will be able to find you, but relying on that is kinda selfish to your friends
 
exactly what i thought

and kid under me, i dont think so

casue it would cost at least another 100 bucks to put into ur jacket

a fair amount of jackets have recco technology implemented, if that's what you were getting at.
 
yep, jackets and pants from numerous companies do have RECCO reflectors built in. but they don't do anything and only professional rescuers have RECCO dectectors. Come to the avalanche day at Kirkwood for $40 and get your answers sorted by the pros.
