4:3 to 16:9

well, I´m editing some footage of this season of some friends of me which is 16:9 widescreen, but today I got some awesome shots, which are sadly in 4:3.

So, how can I get 4:3 files to 16:9? btw, I use adobe premiere cs3

thx

i dont know much about premier (i use fcp), but you should be able to just throw the 4:3 footage onto a timeline that is 16:9 and it should change. If not, if there is a properties options or something along that line, for the clip you should find some sort of option that allows you to stretch it.

Ah hopefully that helped some how? Sorry im not familiar with premier.

That sounds about right, thats how it seems to be. The first time I opened CS3 and imported my shots, which were in 16:9, the timeline was in 4:3 so I changed that and they were fine...

If you want the 4:3 to have the same aspect, you're going to need to crop. Otherwise, the 4:3 will be stretched and it's going to look weird. You could just letterbox the 4:3 and set your timeline up so that the 16:9 stuff is letterboxed to. If you set the time line for 4:3, the 16:9 footage should letterbox. I use final cut so I don't know if that will work for you or not.

just put a wide screen filter on it. you'll lost some pixels but if you really want the shots it's probably the best way.
