3D Printed Titanium 3-Axis Gimbal! Targeted towards action sport filmmaking!

Only issue I see here that the gimbal costs more than the cameras that it supports... alot more.

Definitely a neat idea but you're right eheath.

If your shooting with a Sony A7sii or GH5 camera they are around the same price bracket. If the ONYX can protect your camera from a large fall while shooting would that not be beneficial?

The price represents the quality and materials the product uses. Aerospace grade 5 titanium alloy, the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal and makes up the skeleton of the structure. It's incredibly lightweight, strong and durable! It's much lighter, stronger and easier to operate than any pistol grip gimbal on the market.

I hope some snow sports filmmakers would be interested in backing the project!

Never meant for you to feel like I was attacking you, I can see the product is A+ its just hard to convince people to buy something thats $2-3k when they just spend their budget on a $2k camera. Bigger companies might support the idea, but the device isn't made for them, thats all.

You guys are onto something for sure. Would a gimbal work under water?? It's the best design I have seen for making a gimbal waterproof... Feel like surf filmers and divers would go crazy over something like that.

Google "waterproof gimbal" and then proceed to feel like a jackass.

keyword is metal. Carbon fiber would be a better material choice, otherwise Freefly wouldn't use it for their MōVis. I see on the kickstarter it says its a carbon fiber "skin" wrapped around the titanium, curious why it wouldn't be fully carbon.

Also the half ring looks incredibly frustrating to use, because you basically have to hold it on its sides at all time if you want to mount a monitor or anything up top, but the kickstarter also shows it being held underneath the top which would eliminate the possibility of mounting anything. Using a gimbal without an external monitor is simply a shitty experience

this looks like more of a toy than a professional tool tbh, for cameras this size the mōvi m5 + ring has many of the same comfort benefits but has way more mounting/expansion possibilities for actual serious use

hahaha yeah that's why I put the question in there. it could maybe still work for surf filmers who hold it out of the water, but the pressure of bigger waves would probably fuck the motors. a waterproof one would be huge for guys filming big waves from a boat but that market is super tiny.
